Question Balance shaft, keep or get rid of it?

One major question..... The balance shaft, if I decide to keep it, will it hold me back in power? Is there anyone out there that running their 600hp plus Evo with the balance shafts till in?

those balance shafts spin twice crank speed... if the whimpy belt for it breaks thats the end of it. mitsu puts those in so you dont feel the engines vibrations in your seat. good insurance to gid rid of them.

Oh and use this to eliminate the balance shaft.

Or one like it. Or have your machine shop
Grind the one you have. If you use the stub shaft it puts excess stress on the oil pump which I have experienced a pump failure before. I had my machine shop cut mine and havent had any issues.

We Took the shaft out of my buddys 4g64 motor and it did increase the vibration a lot. It probably picked up 5-7 hp.. But I've been told by reputable sources that it's best to have the motor balanced if you eliminate the shaft.

MAP is building my block and they are doing their style of balance shaft removal. I requested the AMS style do to hearing about the oil pump failure but they stated that they have had no oil pump failure to date with the way they do it. I looked it up and have yet to find anybody using MAP that has had problems with theirs. If you know of anyone using a MAP block that has has the issue please have them pm me. Thanks

Anyone else have an opinion on keeping or removing the balance shaft? Any experiences with it removed?

It cant be that bad, my evo with solid lower crossmember/motor mount and all other ts motor mounts vibrate more than my buddies evo with a 2.3 with no balance shafts (hes on all stock mounts).. Now having solid mounts and 2.3 with no balance shafts.. I have no clue but thats why I thought the idle is higher on a built car... less vibrations felt at idle
