Long story short my alternator is on its way out and was looking for a replacement and noticed that the standard lancer alternator was rated at 105amps while the evo was rated 90 amps. For basically the same price will it be possible to use the lancer alternator? Any problems from the higher amp rating?

And just for the record I did try searching with no real helpful results.

 

It'll be okay the car is gonna use the amps that it needs as long as the alternator is able to supply it but make sure everything is the same.

 

I know that the ECU controls the field on the alternator.

Is the base lancer alternator ECU controlled? I presume yes since I've heard Evo roms can be flashed to a Lancer and they aren't swapping the Evo alternator on.

Worst case you may need the alternator charge map copied over from the lancer ROM, if they differ. Probably just a direct swap though if I were to guess.

 

Did you do this? I've been reading that the pulley is slightly different and that people are shredding belts.
