Alternator Output

Just to let you guys know, the Alternator in the lancer produces 60amps @ 2000rpm. I had this checkout at my local Advance Auto Parts. This number is still good for cars our size, some produce just 30amps

should be 85, not at idle. at idle it'll probably be lower (60).

well all I know is, they tested it using their roll out carts. I believe they're called an ARBST tester. They connected the clamps to the positive and negitive terminals and an amp "ring" around the negitive battery cable. I brough the car upto 2000rpm and held it there for a minute or so, the idle. I had my lights, stereo, and A/C on at the time. I do not belive those would case any different reading as the test is done right at the battery. The tester read 60 amps, and the alternator tested good. Maybe if some of you had the time, have your output tested at a local parts store and see what they read.

The Alternator is rated for maximum output which is 85A at 3K engine RPM typically you do this test at 2K though you are correct there but your idle amp per hour generation would be far less thatn 60A if I'm not mistaken.
