Guys do me a favor PLEASE? If Possible..
Ive reviewed and searched the boards about ticking sounds but mine is coming from the #1 cylinder and I can clearly hear it when I put my ear right on the oil cap...14000 miles never overreved
I was wondering if anyone can do this and see if you guys hear it also...Your ear right on the oil cap see if this is normal
I know these engines tick but mine is a bit more pronounced on the #1 cylinder side,at oil cap.....
Hope you guys can help
THANKS

It is probably just the camshafts. And since it is over the oil cap you will hear it better on the one side, magnesium doesnt transmit sound aswell as the plastic oil cap. Another is check your oil. How often has this been happening? Mostly all 4g63 have valve ticks and it is quite normal. The stock cams have a high duration to begin with, and when or if you ever change to like 272's you will hear it very well

Change my oil every 3000 miles 10-30 mobil 1
It was due for a change and did it today,I noticed it before but decided to put my ear on the cap and thats when I got kind of concerned....
I guess its normal but if anyone wants to check it out for me also ,will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for all the input so far

its the lasher adjusters... if mitsu still uses them in the 8.. I think they do... anyway the guys over at lancerregister know all about them. The tick due to air getting into the oil, its either because of an overfill or an underfill. It will also happen when the engine is cold even if the oil level is fine. I found that mine does it almost all the time... I can't complains, its just another sound of a performance engine
