Believe it or not, some of us actually chose the Evo over other vehicles such as the Audi S4, BMW M3, 996 or a used NSX. I can afford any one of those cars but I chose the Evo for it's pure uncompromising sportscar soul. I also chose the Evo because I have no problem modding the crap put of a $30K car, whereas I would be a bit nervous tearing into Porsche.

Regardless, I don't think any Evo owner should be looking down their noses at Lancer owners. We all started our affair with the automobile with something less than ideal. Besides, someone's got to foot the R&D bill. Mitsubishi does it by selling lots of Lancers. Thanks guys.

I understand this thread is asking evo owners for their opinions but as a OZ Lancer owner I feel I need to put in my .02

I agree that it is a bit ricey when Lancer owners look for evo badges and make conversions to "fool" people into thinking they are in an evo. But my only reason for thinking it is ricey is because I hate to think of a Kid in a Sentra, Neon, Hyundai, (insert your low end import here) dusting an "evo'd regular Lancer" and thinking he just beat a real Evo...I cringe at these Honda Acura followers who would push their generic imports around town and think they have a superior machine to Mitsu's Evo. GRRRRRRRRR! *CLENCHING TEETH*

That said it isnt my business or yours what Lancer owners do to their rides, more power to the Lancer owners that convert to Evo looks, even if Evo owners dont appreciate it.

Lastly, Mitsubishi named our car lancer...not us....obviously they are trying to create a semblance of little brother to big brother here in the states before big brother got here...we are all Lancer fans...Evo, OZ, and the like...the looks are similar...it might be a matter of price, or taste, or age, or insurance premiums...but a Lancer is a Lancer....OZ or Evo...we are all a Red Diamond Mitsu.....granted you have all the horses....we all know that already....but aftermarket parts are few and far between for us...for god's sake think of where we would be w/o RRM, or RMR.......jeez! We dont have much to chose from in the way of conversion looks...just be happy for us.....that we can improve on the stock looks, and that we could turbo our ****s up manual or auto....be glad when you see a Lancer with an owner that gives a ****..as a Mitsu owner I would hope you all rather see a tuned Lancer over a stock ES Lancer...(no offense to ES owners!)..I would hope you would want a OZ, LS, ES, to look better than and to dust Hondas and the like....****, everyone knows your Evo ride is faster but wouldnt that make you prouder to see little brother holding his own?

Funny I should stumble into this thread after seeing a lancer with a huge wing, lowered, etc. Since I don't own my EVO yet, I don't really have any right to say anything negative about the lancer or the EVO. My buddy owns an oz and i personally liked it, but when people say a lancer is a lancer, it kind of erks me. Yea they are both based on platform, but there is much more than just horsepower that differs them. I respect lancer owners and have seen some pretty sweet looking stuff done to them on this site. So do what you will to the car, but I just have to say the raised wing on the lancer is fugly! fuuuuugggglllyyy!

there is a difference...if they wanted the OZ to be a EVO they woulda put OZ EVO..or some BS like that...

its kinda like a ls integra putting a GSR badge on it... you can front all you want...its still a LANCER!!!! no matter what swap, body kit... or whatever. hell by the time you finish spending your money you mind as well have just bought a EVO.

Did you notice all the base Lancer owners that have spoken up - a majority of them started calling people names immediatly? Wonder if that is a coincidence.

Can't we all get along?

That is not going to be a cheap conversion, why dont you just buy an evo.

The 4g63 engine will always have more potential that your engine swap unless you seriously want to drop some cash into your setup. I say ditch your car (i know you're attached to it) and get an evo instead of the costly swap and turbo setup.

frankly i bought a lancer, not an evo, yes i now have a turbo and FMIC and all that cool stuff but frankly it is a Lancer.

I havent ever understood the facination of making one car look like another but to each there own, hell I probably wont ever even put a body kit on my car.

Mivec 2.4 liter swap and turbo charge... good luck on that swap, you're running a SOHC and you're gonna turbo charge that sucker, i hope you do some internal works to it cuz otherwise you aint gonna boost nothing but 4-5 psi.... just like turbo charging a civic

It feels like a Civic going to a m3 conversion.... its like if it's a Lancer...just leave it as a lancer... I would be seeing all these Lancers that look JUST LIKE Evos ... but then they really arent hahah ...

Theres a specific reason the look is differentiated from each other...but hey if you got the dough you might as well just not waste ur time and just get the damn evo ... hahha but still more power to the lancers who look up to big brother evo ...

** Comment :: now dont get me wrong... shOoot I would love a Lancer... just gimmie a grille change and I'll be happy lol ... but still you cant pass up an Evo man... Evo for high performace.... Lancer to choose over those other economical cars lol =P **
i'll keep this short. most lancer owners are just trying to make their car "nicer/cooler/attractive". its not our fault that everything out there is labeled "evo style". would it make you feel better if it was called something like...... i don't know..... "sniper style".....or whatever.
in the end i'm sure lancer owners get asked if it's an evo, and i'm sure the owners are quick to correct and say... "no, its a lancer".
