the right funnel/system is the correct way to burp it.

You need to get the coolant level as the highest part on the motor.. and the TB is higher then the rad cap on a level surface.

That is a very good point! Hence why with vacuum/pressure broken with the radiator cap off the funnel still has coolant in it and it's about level with the TB

+1 for dropping some physics!

My black funnel trick worked, that was my pic. But it makes a lot of sense though. Thanx!

Theres more than one way to skin a cat, funnels work nicely too. But seriously no offense, 2 pages of this thread to ask how burp your coolant system?

Okay, here is how to do it without the funnel. BTW, funny, the funnel is used to keep from making a mess. So, now you are done and still have coolant in the funnel. Mess.

Fill up with coolant and start engine. As whatever is in the engine (air, coolant) expands from the heat of a running engine, the coolant will overflow. So, put your hand over the cap opening. The extra coolant will go to the jug. Finally, when the thermostat opens the level will go way down. Dump in more coolant and cap. Fill the jug to the full level. Done.

Watch the jug level for a couple days. The level may go down a little as any remaining air comes out. Top off the jug.

i wrapped an old beach towel along the base and slowy pulled the funnel. the towel caught nearly every drip. i need to go check it though now that is cooled

the whole reason this happened was because i installed a new turbo and upon start up it shot coolant diretcly onto the manifold, it was a pinned sized hole..... so now the little pin hole is JB wleded ( i know...keep your comments on this down haha its only temporary) New Mishimoto RAD gets here friday.... i hope the filler neck is the same sizr as the funnel i used on the weak *** OEM one haha

you need something like a Lisle funnel where you can allow the coolant to get into the funnel and bubble out the air bubbles. the last time i got air in my car it took 15min of idling with coolant bubbling in the funnel.
