speed density question?

i brought my car to have cams put in and tuned on speed density to help deal with

the idle ect. i got home unplugged the maf to drive and it ran like crap barley ran

actually. Is there a step i have to do myself before removing it. Or did my tuner

just charge me an extra 150 and say he switched it over to SD. Car was still jumpy

coming off the throttle. Im pretty confused if someone can explain what the deal is

that would help me alot. Thanks

There are no specific way to remove the MAF; unbol it, and remove it. When the tuner converted you to speed density, he/she should have removed the MAF for you, and tune the car without it. So, you should go back, discuss your issue with the car and the tuner, and have them check it out.

check your UICP for a and IAT sensor..... if there is no sensor then there is no speed density.

or maybe the tuner put in a hard to reach spot. check the wire that plugs into you maf see if there are 2 stray wires running off somewhere in the engine bay if there arent then you know there is no speed density. If there are wires follow them and you should find your IAT.

kinda sounds like you get flim flammed

FALSE. Speed density can be done using the fuel temp sensor to mimic air temp. That's what I have done, using Tephra, and works flawlessly.

IMO, you guys are approaching this wrong. The OP paid someone to do the work, so that should be his first approach. Go back to the tuner, and figure it out together. If the tuner can't get it right, ask for the money back. Also, there is no need to go SD because of those cams.

Piece of advice: You guys who are paying for labor need to wise up and do some research before taking you car to let a shop work on it. If it doesn't sound reasonable, ask some questions. Have a clue what you're doing, and getting into before your hard earned money leaves your pocket. You should be able to leave a shop with a certain level of confidence they did the work you asked of them.

How can they figure it out together if the OP doesn't know what speed density consists of?

Thats why I posted the links so the OP could familiarize himself.

What you posted it great, there's no question about it. I'm in no way questionning anything. The fact is, he paid for the work, so he should start by asking the tuner these questions. Let's not take this out of context.
