The plastic under tray ?

How many guys drive around without it installed? I will be working on my IC pipes and FMIC soon and want to leave it off for a while till I get everything done. Its a pita to R&R it every time I need to get under there. Not quite sure if it's a good idea or not.. I assume things are gonna get dirty... ???

I drive with it off, I don't have any issues. Granted I don't do any track racing so I wouldn't know how that would affect it.

I don't track either but I DD it 60 miles a day so I'm concerned with road debris, rain, road grime, etc. Thats why I'm curious to hear from guys who run without..

I've never had it, going on 5 years. I've never had the hood vent either.

It's there for a reason otherwise they wouldn't have designed it on there. Granted it won't hurt the car since you're not doing any performance driving, but it does help. I've seen a few cars come into my dealership w/o the plastic skid plate with damaged components (holes in exhaust manifolds, ripped belts, detonated engines from holes in oil pans, ect...) So it's entirely a chance you're going to have to take, you can't control what's on the road.

Taking it off will reduce engine cooling effectiveness. If you're just putting around town or whatever you're probably fine.

I took mine off,it's too much of a mission to take off and replace every time.I think it does help a little with keeping the under tray clean but i wash my car often so it's not a problem for me.
Plus the plastic screws break every time you unscrew them.

I lost my undertray a while ago after I went off track, so I did this:

When I had my viii, I took it off for a while during winter months. I later found out it was a huge mistake because I ended up with salt and road debris everywhere. If you don't care about ruining your engine bay then you don't need it. Otherwise, I would leave it on.
