Another big build statistic: Thinking of getting something else
Hurell, cars are tools... You need the right tool for the job...
My vote is to get more tools! haha
1. Racecar (06 Evo)
2. DD beater/commuter (Honda hatch cx/hf)
3. Tow vehicle/SUV 4dr (F-150 etc)
4. Date night/ pick up the inlaws car (G35)

We had 4 cars for a while and I felt like it was too much. LOL. We had the IS for the Nice car, 91 Suzuki sidekick for DD and STi and Evo for going fast.
I think I'll be keeping the Evo. Wife has expressed interest in a IS-F possiby. Raleigh is so bike friendly I gotta get another one and I want an MDX for long trips.
Man I need to be rich

Definitely should keep the Evo. I have a mildly modded 9 for 5 years. Love it but always had the urge to go big. Sold it for an SUV but missed it a lot.
Recently I got a fully modded out stroker with 6262, suspension ...etc, you name it... The drive was painful: the noise, stalling, and the super stiff twin disc clutch.
Replace the exhaust with Apex Noir and add HF cat, also with got a good tune (detune) from FFTEC. The difference is day and night. It's quieter than my first evo. It's damn fast, and E85 is so cheap nowaday. That said, if I have your option I would keep the Evo and get one of these: isf, e63, or gtr.

I always waffle back and forth on selling my Evo as well. I have a similar build, not the friendliest for driving around. I figure it is time to make the Evo into a track toy. I contemplated selling and buying another performance car, like a c6z06 or cts-v, but I always come back to te fact that I would get bitten by the mod bug again. Buying my beater Civic was the best $1,000 I ever spent. A truck is next on my list, to tow my track toy.

Naw not really. Its not priced to move in this economy. I just wanted to test the waters. If someone offers me something reasonable them maybe I'm good either way. I'm probably going to go to Import Alliance still in Charlotte.
I'm not gone yet (or for a while).

FWIW ... I'd sell the car, then opt for a IS-F or the cleanest, least molested IX you can find. I wouldn't try putting your current Evo back to stock; it's so heavily built that no matter what parts are installed it'll still never equal a factory config and its benefits. If you decide on a stock-like IX, I'd suggest modding it as little as possible and enjoying driving the thing. It's blinding fast on the street. You'll have a totally reliable Evolution that makes as little or as much noise as you prefer. OTOH, if you'd like to have something more luxurious, fast and reliable, the IS-F looks like a fantastic option.
+1 on replacing turbo to stock frame, and keep er. You can always get it to quiet down so you can talk to your fam while driving.
so exhaust and turbo should fix a lot of your issues
As with everything people just tend to get bored after a while. And like you said, you've built this thing down to theh t, and you're at a point where, well you dont need any more power .
glw the decision

honestly man, as i have been following you on here. you buyig crap cars and making them super cars. yes, yes i just called our evos, and even my sti crap cars. the reason is because if you buy and start to build off a platform of the nissan GTR you will be forever in love.
just look at it, people will stop you everywhereyou go, you get one of the best engineered cars EVER! its an amazing machine.
now i would prefer to have myself an evo everyday, what it sounds like for you is that you are ALWAYS wanting to guy big. just do it ma, you will be ok im sure of it.
respectfully s4's, m3's, even AMG's, just seem out of your element.
do what you want to do

I'm just going to jump on the bandwagon and tell you to get the GTR. I think the reason people on here love that car is that it's like the evo in a way. The GTR and Evo represent world beating performance for less money than everything else. Also it help that AMS has some nice parts to spice up the GTR should you get bored.
sucks to hear your thinking of selling, im ALWAYS contemplating on selling mine, and always for stupid ideas and i never really go through with it. but it is true, for family driving, for comfort, for just normal driving duties. This car is not it i feel i.
I have had my fair share of of getting keyed, scumbags eyeing the car looking to steal it, and frankly i just keep her garaged nowadays. in my 7 years of ownership i've had great times and bad times. whatever it is you do please do keep us updated. it will be sad to see another senior evo guy go, but you gotta do whats best for yourself and your family

Hell no.
LOL.
I wish.
I've been doing all of this on one income. My wife finally got a decent job so as we start to take care of some stuff in our house (Just bought a few months back) and build the savings account back up I'll debate on the GTR.
Honestly I always wanted the GTR in addition to the Evo.
I'll start to work on getting the car more tame in the next couple of months.
Thanks for all the opinions, comments and compliments guys. I really appreciate it.
