Evo VIII US-spec, 30 psi?

Hi guys! Im from Sweden and i just bought my first Evo.. its a Evo 8 US Spec, 48k miles and great shape!

Im going to turn up the boost to 30 PSI and then drop to 28.. my current setup:

HKS 272 cams
Garret GT30R
AEM-EMS
1000cc injectors
Walbro 255l/h
Tial 38mm
ETS 3.5" Intercooler-kit
3" from turbo
98 oct fuel (you call it race-fuel)

Ive got some few questions... Swedish Evoforum is kinda so im asking you guys for some advice!

Its a 2003 Evo 8 US-spec... is it true i got forged crank and rods?
Do you think its a good idea to go 30 psi then down to 28 psi?

/Fredrik

No they are not forged unless aftermarket parts were installed.

Congrats on the new car. From your list of mods, it sounds like it will be a fun car.

But I would caution you to turn the boost up that high. The stock internals cannot take that kind of abuse (for very long). I would stick to the 22-24 psi range to be safer. Unless you can find out if it has aftermarket pistons and rods, I wouldn't push it too hard.

Thx for your answer... hm.. you says its not forged internals... have you read this?

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-rods-evo.html

https://www.evolutionm.net/features/...agenumber=4&s=

"The U.S.-specification Lancer Evolutions 4G63 utilizes a revised and reinforced cast iron block filled with a reciprocating assembly consisting of a durable forged steel crankshaft, and 150 mm forged steel connecting rods; cylinders are filled with low compression (8.8 to 1) pistons cast in durable, lightweight AC8A (T6) aluminum designed to withstand forced induction cylinder pressures for an extended period."

What about that?

Everything is in the tune,if the car is properly tuned you can do 30 psi as a daily driver no problem,i was pushing 32 psi on a stock evo 9 turbo at right over 400hp with no issues, keep torque under 450 ft-lb and you should be fine.

Define "forged". For some people it's just a way of describing a "built" engine.

If its not Forged, its cast!

The material.. like that rod is a cast rod.. and that rod is a forged rod!

Does it make sense what im telling you? Ill try my best, even if my English aint the best

Yes evos have forged crank and rods, doesnt mean they can withstand huge amounts of torque though
