Mitsubishi Evolution ad from 2003
The thread is really supposed to be about the ad that Mitsubishi did back in 2003 when they called the Evo 8 a "religion". Not sure how this became a discussion on the Evo XI. There is a thread about that car in the future Lancer section.

And, just out of curiosity, why are we talking about the Evo XI when the thread was about the 2003 Evo VIII?
Although I am a Mitsubishi hardcore fanboy and most of the cars I've owned are Mitsubishi, I do think the company has changed over the years. The most exciting thing they have had to show in the past 5-6 years was the miev?!
Everytime I go to the dealership I see nothing but dull cars meant for family oriented boring driving. Come to think of it, I barely see any Evos at all at the dealerships around Canada.
Even Toyota snapped out of their drought of having flagship sportscars with the introduction of the LFA, ISF, FRS, etc. Subaru keeps up with their STI (they even made sure to release a sedan STI because of fans) and BRZ. Nissan has their 370z and GTR of course. Heck even Hyundai are making exciting cars with their new Genesis coupe and Veloster turbo.
Mitsubishi...well Mitsubishi has their Evo, which is all that is left that is a performance car that you can buy brand new off the lot. A car they plan to kill off along with the Galant, 3000gt and Eclipse. They don't listen to fans and certainly it doesn't seem like they care much about their hardcore customers.
As hard as it is for me to say, my next car will not be a Mitsubishi. I just bought a 350z recently and realized how much more support there is for the car over that of my Evo IX...
Just my 2 cents.

I am trying to keep an open mind and see what is in store. I bought the Evo IX because I was afraid the X would be garbage. The X turned out to be a good car. Now I have the same feeling as the time gets closer for the XIs, but I have a bit more confidence this time around.

Porsche would not be around today without the Cayenne. Lotus is very close to bankruptcy. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati all had to be bailed out multiple times over the years.
You can't really name a successful car company that only listened to it's sports car fans over the years and survived.
Yes, the MIEV is not a hard core sports car, but it is an exciting high tech vehicle. It is the cheapest all electric highway capable car available today, and it was developed in 2009.
If the MIEV can pave the way forward for more interesting sports cars I'm all for it. I'd rather Mitsubishi exist and only building high performance electric cars then they just go bankrupt and disappear forever.
