Motor Mount Vibration

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone can give me their $0.02 about their aftermarket motor mount experiences? I read about all of the benefits but then the drawback is the in cabin vibration....is this annoying? Is it really noticeable? I'm thinking about getting a 4 piece set for my daily driver (which I track a few times a year), but don't want to sacrifice too much comfort which is why I'm considering something different like a Boomba motor mount which is more of a torque damper than a stiff motor mount. But I feel that the better performance parts will be the stiffer polyurethane hardness which will be the most annoying....What do you guys think? Thanks!

Lots of post about this and the choices. Those "stiffy" solutions will drive vibration rt into the sterring wheel and the whole car- there was mention that urethane mounts not used all around cause more vibrations, and that using just the frt mount does the same. I found using the 2 side mounts and frt mount really helped--certainly less vibration then stock , and much less then using the frt alone---so dont short change yourself. Get softer urethan if its an option and do at least 3 of the 4 mounts is what has worked well for me. Proceed at your own risk.

The search tool is our friend on EvoM...

Back to the original question, I have torque solutions all around for all my mounts and the vibrations are definitely noticeable at idle. Evos are fairly loud as is at idle and these ad a lot more noise and vibration to the mix. If this is your daily driver and you want a comfortable ride for yourself and passengers I suggest just going with the front mount and leave the rest.

If you don't care about comfort and prefer performance like 99% of Evo owners get the full 4 pc set and enjoy your new massage chair.

I have a Blox front motor mount on/off throttle is 100% better with it. The down side is you can feel quite a bit of vibration, my wife nicknamed my car junky due to the mount and 6 puck.

I've actually been looking at the Boomba motor mounts because they say, "The polyurethane hardness is carefully chosen so the engine mounts do not transfer any excessive vibrations to the body but significantly reduce engine movement during acceleration." I think there would be slightly less vibration with Boomba over Blox. Any experience?

Don't cheap out on the mounts if you want to do them. I had just the blox front mount and was pretty happy. But I wanted less engine movement, and got the cheap crap innovative mounts that all honda guys love. OMG was it the worst mod to my car. It alone has made my car less fun to DD. Not only does it add way more vibes vs engine control, the side mounts are literally warped and stuck on the studs. I literally couldn't take it off when I wanted to a couple weeks ago. I have to cut them out eventually. Fitment was also inches off...

Bottom line go with mounts that are known to work without issue. Engine mounts is just one of those things thats hard to get right. I'm personally looking into torque solution mounts.

Good call Dee, the ones I got were great quality and the parts fit nice and snug. The only one that took a bit longer to get on was the cam side mount, due to the snug fitment and the fact you have to drop the engine to get the old one out and new one in. The rest were a lot easier, even the tranny mount came with longer bolts to compensate for the different size of the mount.

Pick them up from Mike@AWD motorsports in FL. He gave me a killer deal (since they are distributors and work with Torque Solutions) and took care of the customs crap for me too . Tell him Mike with the ARC Evo IX in Canada who bought parts off him sent you.

According to Boomba, if you JUST do the front mount only, you'll take the engine "out of balance", and thus, I'm thinking about going with the Boomba Racing motor mounts (torque dampers) that come in a set of both the front and rear. I looked up the durometer and I believe it's 80a. It's stiff, but I don't think it'd be too bad. Does anyone have these motor mounts installed and if so, how is it?

I just received Avid Motor Mounts. The Durometer rating is 62a for the street. They are a little stiffer than stock and the actual mounts have a billet aluminium finish.
