issue at the dragstrip

ok this is the ONLY time this car has done this. when i would be sitting in the staging lanes or on deck if a loud car like a big block car with no exhaust would start its engines or rev it next to me my car would almost stall. the idle would dip and jump around down low until the car moved away from me. hell a funny car at the waterbox 50" away from me set my car off and it would idle down and want to die. my buddy said something bout maybe its setting the knock sensor off? not really sure why it did this NEVER done this on the street or anything. only when i was around a big block car that was really loud and stuff. any ideas? kinda freaked me out at first when it did it. i pulled the codes and the only ones are from the rear o2 that i dont have in. another thing is the car wont boost over 20-21psi no matter how much i turn the boost controller (grimmspeed). will taking a few turns on the wastegate actuator arm help this? stock 8 turbo mods are busher intake busher full exhaust upper and lower intercooler piping grimmspeed boost controller stock FMIC.

Are you sure its not just coincidence ? And about you boost, check you wastegate if its holding properly but dont just for the fun of it turn it up, you need to tune it when you turn the boost up.

This used to be discussed back when the Evos first came to the US. I believe it is an issue with the vibrations causing the false readings in the MAF. My friend used to make fun of my car because his motorcycle used to make it stall.

definitly not coincidence. it did it at least 4 times today all from different vehicles. im not to worried bout it since it ran just fine after the car moved or i moved away. the car was boosting 23psi just fine then i noticed one day it just wont go over 20 anymore. that would be pretty messed up if it was vibrations messing with the maf.

The maf reads vortices of the air passing through it. It is VERY sensitive. This is why you have a huge air box from the factory to shield it of noises.

Your cel light is on for the rear o2 sensor right? I believe your car is running in a limp mode, when mine was throwing codes for o2 sensors if I shut the hood it would stall and nearly die.

Try opening and shutting your hood a little harder with it idling... See if the same symptoms happen

Once I fixed the o2 sensor these symptoms were gone and the car ran like a champ

Def the maf sensor they are very sensitive. If you ever have your car running and slam your hood it'll dip just like you said.

ya now that i think bout it when i first installed the intake it was tilted up to much and the filter would hit the hood. it did almost die the first time i shut it when i put it on HAHA. i guess that slipped my mind.

I never slammed the hood lol. But it was even more sensitive with a CEL on. Borrow a friends, clear the code and try the hood technique.

Yes I understand, but before you pulled the o2 did loud noises make it stumble? It only started this stumbling to loud noises after the CEL light came on and the o2 was removed?

I bet if you were to tap on the MAF with your finger right now with the CEL light on it would stumble.

it had a rear o2 code when i got it due to no cat. and no it did it when i put the intake on cause it was tilted to high and hit the hood. so it did it before i pulled the rear o2 out. i just forgot about it until someone mentioned it.

BINGO!

Your car has been in a limp mode for a long time, making it extra sensitive to unknown engine harmonics. Do you have a tuner near or a tactrix cable to pull your ROM? You can covert to tephra V7 and turn the rear o2 sensor off.
