Hey everyone,

I've got a Coltspeed shifter boot sitting here but I've got an E7 with the 5spd - does anyone know if the shifter surround from a 6spd will fit my 5spd setup? What are the differences between them?

The coltspeed boot doesn't fit the 5spd panel since the opening is much smaller than the 6spd and is recessed below the panel instead of protruding like the 5spd. Is the only difference between the two the actual shifter boot itself?

Appreciate any help with this.

I did a 5 speed swap on my MR and used the 6 speed console boot and all including knob. No issues aside from the boot not being exactly perfect fit for the 5 speed shifter but it's close enough for me

How do you mean it's not a perfect fit?

 

Well the 6 doped had the plastic piece used to put it into reverse and the boot snapped snugly into place like it was designed however the five speed does not have that plastic piece so it's smaller and the boot doesn't snap perfectly it's loose a bit but not very noticeable and I like the 6 speed console more so I kept it. Looks good IMO I kept the 6 speed knb also

 

Ahh yeah I know what you mean. Could probably have something made up to fit the shifter and eliminate that problem if it was an issue anyway.

Now to get hold of a 6spd panel...no one over here seems to be selling

 

Lol I have everything left from the swap from the 6 speed but no panel lol.

 

I'd try ebay, always one floating on there.

 

Yeah I'm about ready to buy one from the States and have it sent across - almost impossible to find one over here it would seem!
