CEL light but no CEL....

Hey guys, buddy if mine just bought an 03 evo VIII, the cel was on but when I used evoscan to read the code evoscan said there was "no dtc stored". Has anyone seen this before?

have u tried disconnecting the battery for 15 mins or so and then reconnect and see what happens?

Newer version of Evoscan?? Older versions never read trouble codes correctly newer are fine.

Have you tried to read it with a normal OBD-II scanner??

Does it have the factory ecu or an aftermarket like aem. That could be ur problem, do u have power to the obd 2 port if not that can also be ur problem

If you don't have a normal OBDII scanner you can always go to autozone and they'll scan it for free.

Been on since the car was bought, newest version of evoscan, stock ecu stock/safe tune, we haven't tried a standard scanner, I pulled the cel from my evo with this version of evo scan by this is an 8 and mine is a 9. Any other ideas

Update, six codes were present, 4 related to the high flow cat, one related to the iac, and one related to the turbocharger/supercharging overboosting

I told him he needs Tephra v7 to get ride of the cat codes, I dont recall, can the iac be cleaned?

You can try and clean it, but then you have to think what is making it so dirty it fails? Oil blow by perhaps. Then it's the game of where is the oil coming from? Possible blown turbo seal? Crankcase pressure that is venting to intake? Ect.....
