2006 EVO IX 5 Speed Drivetrain Fluids
2006 EVO IX 5 Speed Drivetrain Fluids
hey i evom, i want to have my mechanic change the drivetrain fluids on my evo but i just need some help. I want to do tranny, transfer case and rear diff fluids. I know that im going to buy all the OEM fluids from the dealer but i need to know the exact amount that im going to need for each application. I searched on here and saw alot of threads but its for MR and other cars so i want to make sure that i get the correct 3's for 2006 Lancer Evolution GSR. Also im not sure if the ACD pump shares fluid with any of those and if not i want to change the fluid in the ACD pump also. Can someone please help me so i can make sure i get it right so i can extend the life of my car. Thanks alot.
I will also take a PM. my mechanic just told me to get all the fluids from the dealer (which i already knew) and he also told me to get exact quantities so we put the right amt for each app. thanks again for the help.
if anyone has any advice that would also help, its a bone stock car and has 50,190 miles on it and the previous owner said he changed all the fluids on 40k mileage so im due to get all this done again

The dealer will give you the correct amount.
Diaqueen LSD for TC and rear- 1 in each
Diaqueen 75-90- 3 in trans
I would not change ACD fluid if you don't have to, it's a two person operation unless you have evoscan

when is ACD fluid supposed to be changed? idk if i have to and how would i know if i have to? i called the dealer and asked but most dealers around here are very rude and dont seem to want to help so i dont want them to give me the wrong info thats why i decided to ask on here

i was on lancershop.com trying to get the oils and they reccomend BG synchro shift for the tranny in 5sp and OEM in 6sp....i have a 5 speed and havent read anything good about the EVO tranny...so i really want to make sure i pick the right stuff and use the right amount
There is nothing wrong with the 5-speed tranny. The 6 speeds on the other hand suffers from having too many gears packed into a tight space which results higher failure rates. So even though the R in MR stands for racing, the 6 speeds (stock) will not stand up to mechanical stresses of racing for very long.

For the Tranny I use Redline MT90. If you wanna keep your transfercase use oem diaqueen gear oil the rear diff also uses the same oil. STM has real good prices and shipping is only $4 no matter the total.
For extra protection in the Transfer case I use 50/50 mix of Diaqueen and Redline Heavy Shock-Proof. If you are not beating on it the OEM Diaqueen LSD is good enough.

Pretty sure there is no such thing.

Mobil 1's not going to blow up your car but it's not the oil it used to be.
