newbie need help with intercooler & piping fitment
Hi guys,
I have 06 evo mr se that i bought recently.
I bought the whole kit made by injen for my evo. Also bought ets 3" intercooler. After installing piping i realized that the piping doesnt light up right with the intercooler, the uppwer piping where it meets the intercooler. The injen upic sits too low once its mounted.
I have stock bov and its hooked up to injen air intake. Im planning on keeping injen intake.
My Q is what intercoolers did you guys you who had or have injen intercooler pipes?
For those of you who have ETS intercoolers what pipes are you guys using?
Im just trying to decide either to keep ic pipes and get different intercooler or keep ets intercooler and get different piping.
let me know guys, all help will be greatly appreciated!

you should read what you wrote and see if you understand it.
most use ets with ets piping. i dont have exp with either and i tend to stay away from injen because a few peeps i know had their uicp blow off. but there's not much to gain from replacing the uicp so most dont do it. seems like a cosmetics thing for low hp guys.

I just installed an ETS intercooler with ETS piping, if you do decide to go that route, fyi - i had to remove what i believe to be the factory boost solenoid from its bracket in the right corner of the engine bay where the UICP comes into the bay. That made fitting the piping together much easier and my car has an aftermarket MBC so i just tucked the factory solenoid behind the headlight because it was still wired into the car.

Sell your old pipes and go buy yourself ETS Pipes to complete your kits. Like the Other members said, buying the kit from one company is alot better and simple to install and the fitment is excellent.Get ahead of Michael from ETS to help you out. Good luck.
But I agree with you. You will see way better gains with a real company instead of a mass made generic replacement.
sorry guys i will post pics. I bought the car wrecked and needed new intercooler and pipes, it just happened that i got good deal on injen kit so i thought why not and intercooler was sold to me for good price too. Im new to the car and havent done much research so had no idea about the injen not being good and its not fitting with the IC. Ill be looking for new pipes looks like that match the cooler.
I did have a 3.5 ETS IC with Injen upper and lower Intercooler pipes, and Greddy BOV. It fits right in. Till about a 2 months ago I ended replacing everything with ETS keeping my Greddy BOV.
I have injen uicp to a precision fmic with ets licp and it fits fine. just had to get new couplers and some t bolts for it cause the stock ones were junk. But once the pics come in we will get a better idea of what your talking about.
I have all injen piping.
First let me say that DO NOT just force the pipe into the stock coupler and fasten it down with hose clamps. I did this and it blew off-twice-in a tunnel-both times. After learning my lesson I bought two, 8 inch elbow couplers from a local shop. I also invested in T-bolt clamps.
- The 45 degree couplers worked great for stock intercooler
- After switching to the treadstone (3 inch outlets at bottom of IC), I had to purchase 2, 45 degree reducers. Still worked perfect though.
In conclusion, I think your problem is that you need yourself some elbows, T bolt clamps, and a little hairspray will never hurt either
