Problem with Speedometer and Manual Boost control

Ok, just had a shop do a full motor swap for my 05 evo 8. They got it running and running good, only problem is now the speedometer is not working. They told me they would have to pull alot back out to do testing and eventually replace w/e is needed. Just paid them a good chunk, not down to do it again so its up to me to figure it out. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas of where to start and the best way to do this. They said it could be the wiring all through out the car, or the sensor.
The second thing is my manual boost control. I have an aftermarket one installed, and the plug for my stock boost is just laying there, and because of that im getting a check engine light for it. Is there anyway around this check engine light, cuz i dont want this thing on and me not know there is something actually wrong somewhere else... which im learning from evos... happens alot :P Any help would be appreciated, thx guys

I had a problem with my speed sensor when a plug backed out. Follow the speed sensor wire to metal bracket just under the coolant housing, and make sure it's plugged in. That particular plug is easy to overlook because it's attached to the bottom of a bracket and jut looks like a bracket unless you know what you're looking for. if that doesn't fix the problem, I would inspect + check the voltage on the speed sensor itself. If you're still not out of the woods, I would check your fuse/ relay situation.

As for the boost controller, most people leave the stock one plugged in and cap the nips. After that, just zip tie it somewhere out of the way; voila! No cel.

Ok, first off, if you paid a shop to do work and they broke something while doing that work - it's 100% their responsibility to fix it regardless of "how much work" it is for them to do it. I'd go back and tell them that they can either fix it, or you will ahve your lawyer contact them to work out the details.
As for the boost controller, you need to plug the stock one back in to keep the CE light from coming on. Unfortunately there's no way around that.

Me and a buddy pulled alot of **** out of this car before i had this motor put in. The car was dead for 2 months in my driveway and i had no clue the speedometer wasnt working, and im pretty sure we ****ed it up as we ****ed up a couple things lol. The shop owner says they were no where near those wires and didnt unplug anything, and honestly i just want my car back since it is running now. And on top of that all i got a really good price on what they did. So im justing looking at what i can do to fix this. I can still drive it... just wont know how fast im going. I drive like a grandma in this car anyway... most of the time. So i will do some testing as was suggested. As far as the boost control goes, i have an aftermarket turbo in this car, and got it like that with this plug just hanging there... i have no clue where to plug it in lol. I about to go pick up the car though, im going to ask them.

My speedo hasnt worked for a while now. Tried a new vss, wiring harness, still nothing. Bt so you know how fast youre going, either get a gps and use that all the time, or if you have a smartphone, download a speedometer app.

Yup, but everything else in my cluster works, minus odometer which is triggered by speedometer. So dont waste your time buying every part, ask friends if you can borrow a vss, a harness, stuff like that until u find whats broken.

Awesome, ty guys for the replies. I just got the car back and its running, and the speedometer is working lol. So i have no clue what this guy was talking about. Ill have to figure out something for the boost, again thanks for the info. I drove my car to taco bell then back home, and i popped the hood and it is running very hot. I havnt had the car for a while so maybe im just not use to it running hot still, either that or the new engine is still breaking in? dunno, kinda worrying me tho
