Question Washed the firewall area by mistake and the car won't start. PLEASE PLEASE HELP

I bought an Evo 8 about a month ago. The previous owner or the shop had overfilled the transfer case oil which caused oil to leak from the breather on top to all over the surrounding surfaces. I decided to change the tc oil and it was time to clean up the mess.

Therefore, after spraying and wiping off all the grease with the industrial degreaser, I had the wonderful but kind of unintelligent idea to wash the areas with pressure washer. I went directly to self-service car wash applied the industrial degreaser under the car, around the tc and the cat-converter since it was greasy too, then I opened the hood and applied the same degreaser from the firewall section towards the tc breather then pressure washed the areas. I only washed that particular area not the engine bay

At first, I had no problem starting the car. Approximately, after driving for 10-15 minutes the car started to stall, engine turned off and 3 solid ACD lights came on along with the ignition lights. I was traveling on the highway while this happened; It didn't start then I tried a bump start, the car started and suddenly turned off again. I managed to pull the car to the shoulder. I turned the ignition on everything looked normal on the cluster, ACD light...I could not start the car again; it cranks but does not start. I got my car towed

What seems to be the problem Gentlemen?

Unless you sprayed the fuse box, this is what I was thinking. Take your alternator off and bring it to a parts store to be tested. There could be plenty of other possibilities but this would be a pretty big/main one to check.

Thanks folks, I found the problem and fixed it. The engine fuse at the fuse box was blown.

Damn it after driving for five minutes the fuse blew up again, It is the number 8-ECU (20amp) fuse which I believe also supplies voltage to the O2 sensor. Did the downstream O2 sensor wires trapped water or moister? Would it cause to blow the fuse? My car was running fine before the car wash

Also, when I bought the car it came with an AEM Wide Band 02 sensor , it was working fine first then it stopped working for no reason meaning not even the lights of the gauge, and whenever I disconnected and reconnected the car battery it was working fine again. However, before the car wash I remember that O2 sensor wasn't working for three days. Much to my surprise, it never work again after the car wash. I am very disappointed.

By the way the car came with a 3" AMS cat-back exhaust, even though it had AMS down pipe and high flow cat the dealer has put back a used oem down pipe and cat in order to pass the smog before I did purchase the car. They may have done a crappy job by damaging the wires who knows

What are the things that I should be checking first folks. please.

I gurantee you that something is ground itself. Resulting blown fuses. See my thread here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ont-start.html.
My problem is exactly like yours from the ACD lights coming on to blown fuse.
I'm not sure if its the water that you sprayed near a wire in that general area of the transfercase but have you moved around any wires lately. If I was you I would start in the gauge area(wiring). I followed Mellon tuning guide in installing my gauges. most people fail to put fuse when installing gauges. Make sure you have a good ground wiring isn't melting and so forth. There are guides in the How-to section that I think every CT9As and older gen evo should follow in terms of proper wiring evos. I think proper wiring should be just as important as changing the walbro in these cars. GL.

Check the connectors behind the driver side footwell....They are most probably soaking wet. If you saw any kind of moisture or bluish/Greenish deposits it means that water was present in that area and you need to clean and dry out your connectors. If anything is burned, like my case, just take the time to extend, soldier and shrink tube every wire of the connector.

I think I found what the problem is . It was because of O2 sensor or the cables. The car starts fine now and the check engine light is also on as it was before.

The cat has a universal O2 sensor which didn't seem like it's cables were installed professionally (with electrical tape and so on). Since there was no connector to unplug, I had to cut almost whole bended bundle under the car in order to examine it. When I took apart the electrical tape the cables looked fine though. Would defective O2 sensor cause to blow #8 engine fuse? Or is it the wires in the cabin? Or is it something else?

Even though, it is off the topic I am curious to find out about your thoughts on the location of my UEGO wideband O2 sensor. Whoever has done the installation it is about 8" away from the cat towards the back. Does't it suppose to near the downpipe or on it?

The UEGO is preferred to be on the end of your down pipe, in my case i had it installed after the cat in the OEM location.

Check your connectors behind the footwell of the driving side, am pretty sure you have some water trapped there.
