Oil leaking at oil plug?
Oil leaking at oil plug?
Well took that plastic cover off to do a routine oil change and there was some oil in it... thoroughly surprised I searched for the culprit and it turns out it's the oil plug. Anyone else have this problem? Figure i'll change the oil earlier keep an eye on the fluid level and buy a new plug to swap it out. It's a small leak
Mitsubishi recommends changing out the crush washer (They call it a gasket
) with each oil change.
I've been using the same one since 2008. I just torque it to spec each time and haven't had a problem. Make sure you've got that crush washer in there though.

Or get the Power-**** magetic drain plug which comes with a better sealing washer with inner-rubber coating. There only $10 and they also catch metal particals so it's a win-win. I have one and the magnet is crazy-strong; I won't run without one now.

The factory one on my X started leaking after a few changes so now I just replace it with every oil change. It could possibly have just been a fluke though since it's the same one used on the IX, and I never replaced that one over 50k+ miles.
