Approaching 300k!!
I don't want to bogart this thread, but I just got 261k out of my 1995 BMW M3. Had the original clutch in spite of years of autocross. So this type of mileage from a popular sports car can be done, but it takes lots of maintenance and, I think, a certain driving style when not at the track.
I bought a 2006 Evo IX MR at CarMax with 30k and it promptly snapped a cranshaft. As well, the 6 speed was ready to croak.
I just picked up the car last week from AMS with a new 2.3 stroker, Shep tranny, FP Green, and all the AMS goodies on there (no cat), 1,000cc injectors, etc...
I'm really hoping to rival our OP's mega-mileage, as I did in my M3. As of this moment, I'm still feeling like these Evos are made entirely of peanut brittle, but the OP's car reminds me of my M3, which never failed me and to this day will give anything on the road an agonizing run to show it some tail.
We shall see! I'll be following this highly encouraging thread!

Sorry to hear about that RX-7. I recommend shipping it to Steve Osley to rebuild. He is the David Buschur of 93-95 RX07s. He's in Western NC.
My best friend now has my M3. About to hit 270k.
And even though the OP will laugh at what an amateur I am: The freshly built AMS 2.3 Stroker I got now has about 3k miles and feels pretty darn indestructible. In spite of 23psi I really think this car might have the guts to go the distance. I have the feeling my average driving is similar to some of the highest mileage Evos. Still rocking old geysers in Porsches in Western NC!

My '04 is about to turn 200k - still original drivetrain minus a new clutch at 120k.
Only major repair aside from the clutch has been a new radiator (lousy stock quality plastic cap crap) and a new A/C fan motor.
Freaking love this car - don't want to sell it, but I admit I do love the look of the '11-12 WRX 5-door.

"You say 3k like that is a lot! What a joke. I do more than that on my motorcycle in less than half a year.
My Evo has a paltry 113k."
Well, CalCity, take note that I went to AMS & picked up my Evo on Christmas Eve and already have almost 3k miles. For anyone who is in WNC, you will see my Evo raging the roads on a regular basis. I once put 70k miles on a motorcycle in2 years, so I know what miles are!
4RETECH: You know what's sad? I've taken every car/bike I've ever had up The Dragon dozens of times, but this Evo IX has yet to be there at all. Honestly, 276 South out of Brevard is in every way a better driving road, but The Tail gets all the PR. But you are right: Evo must go!
Considering that I drive work vehicles during the week and only drive my Evo on weekends, usually with my 4 year old in his Recaro baby seat, I'd say 3k a month is pretty fat mileage!
I've bagged a few Vettes, STis, and Mustang Cobras since bringing her back from AMS, but honestly, the ones I love most are the 50+ Priuses I've scared the bejeesus out of. I'm not mean (and my dad drives a Prius), but going 51 in the left lane in a 70 zone warrants a right lane 23PSI pass. Don't ya think?

Just did both front whee bearings. Now at 58k original miles & maybe 3200 on the new AMS drivetrain.
A quirky note: unlike my M3, it is harder to determine for sure if the wheels bearings are getting a little old, but changing both fronts brought my steering and alignment back to that Porsche Boxster feel that an Evo should have. Now I can canyon carve again without that Jeep Wrangler steering feel. On a positive note, bolt in bearings are super easy to change. Only a bit harder than changing a tire, and the Mitsubishi bearings aren't any more expensive than any ordinary commuter car.
But honestly, 58k seems a bit weak for bearings. Again, I'll chalk it up to prior owner shenanigans.
