Evo vs Lancer...?

Dear EvoM Members,

Please help me out with this comparison of the two Mitsubishi models....

I am looking to do a conversion of a 2003-2006 stock Lancer to a Evolution 8/9. I need to know if the standard Lancer is "structurally" the same and the engine and suspemsion components can just be bolted on.

Also of interest is if the body panels can be adapted as well....?

Any help would be appreciated...as I am working on a project involving this type of conversion.

Thanks!

I'm on my phone but there is a thread titled "base lancer to Evo parts"

Search for it and there should be tons of info in there

You are aware it would be cheaper and massively less hassle to just buy an Evo VIII/IX rather than convert a base lancer right?

Don't bother converting a Lancer, its going to be more expensive than just buying an Evo outright. Converting would be around 25k, not including labor. Might as well just get a Evo right from the get-go.

I think anybody trying to do this conversion has taken complete leave of their senses.

as stated above just not worth it in the long run, im all for doing a little extra work to get a nice result because my time in a project is free in my mind but its way to much in this sense

is it doable yes... i have a lancer oz rally that has an evo swap in it but still is fwd since going awd would involve alot more. (i will be partin the car soon) Its not cheap to do and for the cost you can buy a nice used 03 - 04 evo.

OP,

Please search, this topic has been covered numerous times in several areas of the forum. Truth be told, you will be better off just buying an EVO to begin with.
