Angry Dealership crack-head service department

Ok, I go to get my oil changed and to have the car looked over for the next track event, and I told them I would be back in an hour.

Well, I walk back up from the Lincoln place, ummm Navigator, and my car is on the timer running out front. I jump in and hit the tattle tell on the SAFC, and it read 7750 RPM's.

I stuck my spare key in to keep it running, and went and got the manager. So long story short, the dip sh*t was free willing it in the back.

He claims he only revved it once, and another customer there said, it was only once, a lady with a daughter, so I believed her, but do you think it hurt it? Should I raise a stink, especially since my highly modded evo(their words) has already been ragged.

At open tracks, I only shift at 6800, only once over 7, and it was like 7150, and it was under load.

Thoughts?

dont trip about it, i hit fuel cut quite a few times already, and yes my fuel cut is around 7700rpm so i wouldnt' worry too much about it, thats what the fuel cut is for, to prevent over revving on the engine.

Regardless if it hurt your car or not, it is not acceptable for them to be reving yoru car like that when you went if for an oil change. That is terrible.

IMO, although it probably didn't hurt the car, it is still screwed up to have some dealer to rev it that high. WTF was his intention??? It is one thing if the owner chooses to abuse his/her car, but when the someone at the dealership that does it, that is another story. Since the people at the dealership is "suppose" to know what to do and not to do with a customer's car.

yes, dont worry about the 7750, no harm done, but do worry about the *** who revved it. REMEMBER, regardless if its highly modded or not it is YOUR car, and not acceptable. If they want to rev on one they should rev on one still on the lot which THEy still Own, not yours. Hell yeah be pissed. This iswhy a dealer will Never touch my car again. Ive only been back to the dealer to buy oil filters and they look at me funny because I have free oil changes and live directly across the street from the dealer and still wont let them touch my car.

Yeah, some of the Mitsu service departments are full of jokers. I took my car in at 3500 miles to have the front rotors replaced and they scratched both wheels on the passenger side. They denied it of course and insisted that I was simply trying to blame it on them.

I doubt that they caused any damage, but I would definitely take it to a different dealership in the future.

From: Where ever my car takes me!
something similar happened to me when i got tires. I was waiting in front of the place, and i see the tech take off in the car. Never have i ever seen a place do a "test drive" only after changing tires. So i go and get the shop owner and explain everything to him. The owner and i are outside talking when i hear my car at WOT. I told the owner that what he is hearing is my car and that i am not happy with situation, the owner agreed that test drives are not done when tires are put on the cars. the owner gave me the tires for free, fired the person that took my car right when he returned, and on paper, gave me a signed agreement that his shop would buy me a new motor if it died within 1000 miles. The owner was super nice about the whole thing and i never made a huge scene. i was surprised i actually kept calm. Because of the owner i still get my tires from them.

This was in my 93 rx7 a long time ago.

A lot of places will rev the engine after an oil change, to make sure oil isn't gonna start squirting out under pressure. They probably figured that since the rev limiter is there to prevent over-rev it wouldn't be a big deal.

Yet another reason why my Evo hasn't been back to the dealer since I've purchased it.

Hey, I **** up stuff on my car from time to time when I work on it too. It sickens me when it happens but at least I know EXACTLY what I did.

And do you suppose for a moment if something broke in your engine b/c of their monkeying around with it, that they would cover it?

Take the car to a Jiffy Lube or somewhere like that and stay with the car. People these days have no respect for the property of others.

Sounds to me like at least one free service from that dealer. If the service manager didn't offer it I'd go back and request it. I'd also make sure they know that you'll be checking up on them and the original tech isn't to touch your car.

WTF how the hell do you prevent this? I would be pisssssssssed off, especially since there is no way i can prove the revving as my car is stock.
