front end vibration

I have a vibration in the front end that comes and goes? I tried a second set of wheel and all the ball joints and tie rods are tight. Its an evo 8 at stock ride height with stock suspension. I am thinking a bad cv joint but would like oppinions on it before I just start changing parts. Like I said the the steering wheel will shake for a bit at hwy speeds and then go away, then come back, any thoughts.

Thanks

Just check stuff dude, there's only so many things, be it a joint, an axle, or a bushing. Something has play.

CV Joint you will here clicking when driving a slow circle or figure 8 in a parking lot. Have a friend walk beside the car while you do this.

Wheel bearings could be another possibility. With the car on the ground, grap the wheel perpendicular to the ground and give it a shake, then parralel. You will here and feel any play in it.

The least expensive cause could be your lca bushings. I had a shake in the steering wheel at highway speeds and real bad when braking above 65mph. It felt like the wheels were moving back and forth under braking.

Another possibility could be a busted lower front motor mount. This also caused some of my vibration.

Hope that helps. Good luck troubleshooting.
