Question How the heck do all you punks think you can afford this car anyway?

Just kidding about the punks.

But seriously, now that you're reading, how are people planning on paying for this? Have you saved up a large down-payment? Are you planning on having a rather large monthly payment? Do you have stock options (like me) that are actually still worth something (unlike me )? Are your parents buying it for you?

How many of you are going to pay cash?

I just think it's interesting that the people that would be most interested in this car (it seems to me) are probably in their teens and twenties - a time when there's no way in he** I would have been able to afford this car.

I've been planning on getting the STi, but if the EVO comes out and no STi has been announced... might just have to re-think that (especially since I think I found a dealer that will do MSRP).

Hmmm, the blue looks very nice...

well, I'm 22, just graduated college in may, got a pretty well paying professional job, and just dropped a $500 deposit on the evo yesterday at the only local dealer willing to sell at msrp. my only problem now is making my current car last long enough until, the evo arrives. it would be my 1st new car, and I figure i have until jan to save up for a down payment, and since i'm paying fairly cheap rent, I can devote more $$ to my car. if down the line it looks like i wont be bale to afford it, I'll get my deposit back and hope to find a used one in a year or so

Well this PUNK J/K is gonna buy it out right. No down, No payments. (Hopefully)

I hope you guy's can find a fair price on the Evo. My local dealer said that they were gonna sell them for $ 42K?!!... are they MAD?
Now there's No way I'm gonna pay $ 10K over MSRP for anything, Evo or not.... But the sad truth of it all is there are a lot of people around here(HI) that do pay these marked up Read..@$$ r@ping prices. So how am I to compete with that?

Well ...

I already predict that Mitsu will raised the price like hell.
My other option is to tear down my 1999 4-door Mirage and convert it to Evo 5 or 6.

I believe I read somewhere there is a company in the US that can do that conversion. So, I maybe spending a good 15 - 20 grand to have it put together correctly.

I dont know about you guys, but a $35,000+ Evo is just not worth it to buy. To expensive for my 401k.

.... oh wait, what 401k ?

Tradin' in my 1998 Prelude SH (or selling privately--anyone interested? ) I am trying to pay off the lude by then so that I have a nice down payment. I should be able to keep the payments below $350/month. Oh yeah--I'm 27.

Sold my truck, sold my bike got 10k waiting anxiously to sacrifice itself for the glory that is EVO. Hopefully by the time my first year is up on the OZ my wife and I will have about 10K left to roll into financing on it so should be in a decent position to make payments on both cars.

I have $500 down already, plus I am putting over 10K down minimum when I purchase it. I refuse to pay any markup fees at all. If they try, they can keep the $500 and I will walk away and they lose a sale.

I got a $500 deposit in, and I plan on putting 6K+ down. It all depends on the APR...0% for 5 yrs. would be nice. I am really hoping for a $28,000 MSRP. If I can't afford to finance it when the time comes, maybe I will do one of those lease then buy out deals.

The Evo will be my 2nd car ("winter beater") but since it won't be out until after the brunt of winter is over, I'll be in no real hurry to get it. Save up a decent down payment, wait until a dealer is willing to deal a bit (IE not ask $5k over MSRP), and go further in debt

n00b question

ok maybe i'm stoopid but what is MSRP?

Also, no way I can afford an EVO, I'll just drool from the sidelines.
I am saving up to get a Lancer V-RX (your OZ Rally) when they are released in Australia. I'm planning on buying it outright. I'm 22.
