evo tails not fitting correctly

Passenger tail has a little gap between the fender. Its stock but seems like previous owner removed, kind of cracked it and put it back in. No matter how mush it wont fill the gap. Anyone have tips besides buying a new one? Also is it safe to drive with the gap in rain and carwash? ( can actually peek inside and see rubber boots)

i actually removed one of mine recently to change a bulb. put it back in and it doesn't sit flush anymore.

I just left it, and unless I find water in my car I am not concerned.

This shows the "good" side for comparison purposes.

On my car my taillights have the gap you dont like. My guess is that the side that sit flush is missing that rubber nipple piece that goes onto the taillight that gets inserted into the body.

Is this piece part of the taillight or the car body? Also, I noticed all the other taillights in the for sale section (evo vii, jdm 8/9 mr) don't have the black rubber trimming around the light. Is this trimming part of the tail or part of the body?

It's on the back side of the taillight.

From what I remember it's like a clearish rubber nipple that locks onto this metal post sticking out by the corner of each taillight.
