Wiseco ring gap

I'm wondering where to gap the rings on a motor I'm building
It's a 86mm wiseco 9:1
Power we're shooting for is 550-600whp

Agreed. You don't want ring flutter.

This info is right from wiseco using 1400 HD pistons

top ring between 17 - 21
second ring between 19 -26

piston to cyl wall clearence 3 to 4.5 max

I'm building my motor as we speak and the second ring is set at 28 and I didn't even touch it..I'm std bore and using piston 6626m85...So i'm going to set all the second rings to 28 and the top ring to 22..looser is better then tight if your going high boost.

Here's a pic of a friends pistons on his 2003 evo using wiseco 1400HD .20 over....i took the motor apart the top ring was gap to 9 thousand and the second ring gapped at 20..Ring gap is very important ..alot of people and machine shops just slap motors together blind
