I know where the jacking points are. The Evo I have is lowered and I can't get my floor jack in all the way to the jackpoint behind the tow hook. The front bumper is in the way. If I jack it up from the side rail point, then how or where do I place the jackstands since the side rail on that side is being used by the floor jack??? Advice beside not to lower my car?

 

I sold my Evo IX last year, but I'm pretty sure there are a few knotches in the side rail where you can place a jackstand... just not exactly one spot...

this. easiest way to be able to get the jack under the front

 

Get a low profile jack and when you lift your car, lift it from the pinch welds about a foot away from the tire and put the jack stands on the pinch welds close to the tire.

I thought there are two pinch welds on each side, one towards the front and one in the rear. Where is the second one...or am I making my own? I am using a low profile 3 ton floor jack from Walmart, is there one thats even lower??

 

I drive up onto a set of rotors I replaced on my EVO. Nice and big and get the car high enough to out a craftsman Jack under the front.

 

No, no, no on the same pinch weld, but about a foot away from the tire so you can get a jack stand with the jack at the same time!

 

The easiest way is to do the 2x4 or 2x6 method.
If you cant drive it then get some help to push it up onto them.

 

I have used the block of wood method for the past couple of years and it has never failed me. Whatever you do please do not jack up your car on the pinch welds using a normal jack.

If you insist on jacking from the pinch welds than buy an adapter for your jack that is meant for pinch welds. It has a channel for the pinch weld to sit in and cradle it so to speak, the same way the factory scissor jack works. This will ensure that you dont crush the pinch welds to the vehicle.

 

Take a 2x6 and cut it into 4 sections. Two 18" sections and two 10" sections. Then take all 4 sections and cut a 45* angle on one end of each section. The 45* angle will become the leading edge which will make it easier to drive onto. Once you've cut the leading edges, screw the 10" sections to the top of the 18" sections creating a step to drive up onto. This is what worked for me when I had my car really low.

People always say to jack from the pinch welds and it f***s s*** up beyond belief. Jack from the front jack point just behind the tow hook and the rear diff

 

I jack from the middle of the pinch weld so i can put jack stands on either end. I use a hockey puck on the jack and my pinch welds are still in perfect shape.

 

+1 This is what I do. Sounds like most people don't run their under tray but I do and if the car is that low how do you take the under tray off to even get to the center front jack point? Side rails have always worked for me. I use the jack stand as a guide, I place the jack stand where I wish to place it once the car is raised and place the jack on the side of the jack stand and jack the car up from that point, if you have help and have 2 jacks that works the best and is a little less sketchy.
