Any Evo owners still using the (original) stock clutch?

I have a 05' Stock Clutch
Other signs of failing clutch? Definately rpms shooting up and no speed gains, chatter and maybe I clutch engagement
WOT slipping: YES, you might also experience slipping during low speed cruising.

I'm not sure about smell, but I'm currently experiencing more chatter then slip as well as my cltuch engagement is higher than I remember @ 45K. My Odometer currently reads 92089 with stock clutch. I've launched maybe 8 times all very poorly with the clutch smelling and all.
Only thing delaying me from changing the clutch is a ACT TOB that I don't want to use on the new clutch and PP.

Think about it, clutches are wear parts just like brakes, they can last very long if barely used. Vehicle mileage unfortunately is not a good representation of vehicle usage.

If you get 20+ launches with 350/350 power, I'm sure your stock clutch will be showing some signs of slipping. If you never launch the vehicle, it will last a decent while.

My 2005 VIII is at 52k and on stock clutch. DD and no mods other than shifter bushing kit.
Rarely do any spirited driving.

I sometimes get a 'hooing' noise when engaging the clutch, but never any slipping I can notice.

Been running 340 wtq since i got the car 3 years ago, soon itll be a bit higher when i tune the Ef2. 71k, still on stockclutch. Car is my dd, i'm regularly in bumper-to-bumper traffic about 3-4 times per week. ive launched the car maybe a dozen times or so, plus another 2 dozen "half launches" for autocross. also done 10 or so track days/tt's.

It is my opinion that the rumor of the stock clutch being excessively fragile was started by people who a) launched the car excessively or improperly and/or b) cant drive stick properly

I bought my car with 30K and it needed a new clutch shortly thereafter.

I've replaced it with stock clutch, now I've got 76K and it no worries so far but I don't launch the car. I did once. And smoked it.

makes me wonder how badly beaten my car was by the original owner.

Anyone know who makes the OEM clutch? That could go a long way to figuring out what aftermarket clutch it might be similar to. It might even share parts from one of those more expensive clutches out there.

I'm on stock clutch, but I have super low mileage (~15k). I've never needed to change a clutch on any of my cars before though, but I am extra careful with the Evo because of the AWD and super sticky tires. Definitely no launches, but I'm also careful on normal starts and of course downshifts. Uphill starts are not so easy with the Evo because it bogs at lower RPM, so it requires a delicate touch. I always heel-toe or match revs with my cars, and I frequently double clutch when I'm bored. Clutch changes are a little more difficult than, say, brakes, so I take it easy.

The one I just purchased has ~350WHP and the stock clutch, only has 24K miles however, car was a decade long garage queen.

I was very thorough while test driving it. No slipping, smells, or issues changing gear. Grabs perfect. I'm easy on my cars, so I'm sure it'll last quite some time. If not, I have a ACT HDSS brand new in box in my garage.

15K miles?! Another garage queen huh? Any interest in selling, I could always use a new "like new" Evo

like most people said, the stock clutch can last as long as you make it

i believe the stock clutch is an exedy. obviously not the twin, but made for street with a regular disc. exedy makes alot of stock clutches in japan.

yup, they are like the largest clutch supplier in Japan.... which is expected when you make OEM + aftermarket parts.
