HKS DLI removal?
HKS DLI removal?
I'll likely be picking up my next Evo this coming week. It was modified a while back (read: years) before COP setups were all the rage. It's currently equipped with an HKS DLI II Ignition Amplifier. I do understand the purpose (prevent spark blow-out?), but I'm skeptical about how many users here have complained about the units failing/causing fires/melting coil packs.
My question is this: (frankly I've never seen one in use and I'm not sure how they are wired, but my assumption is it plugs up into the stock harnesses for the factory ignition.)
-Can I remove the unit without any additional headaches and restore it to the stock ignition setup WITHOUT any complications?
-Will this effect the tune in any/way/form?
The car was tuned on a stock ECU.
Will I likely need new plugs or have to re-gap the existing plugs after removal?
Thanks.
