Speed limit on the Evo is 159mph (incidently, Vishnu can remove this with a flash if required ).there is something wrong with your car if it is not pulling past 140....you don't live up a mountain do you?

I've had mine over 150 a couple times. I think 154 was my best...and was done back when the car was bone stock!

Altitude will kill your top speed just as it will your acceleration. Not enough power to overcome the gears. BTW I thought the Evo was gear limited to 159 or so, not electronically limited. How can they remove a speed limiter based on physics?

I agree with you. But he claims he took the pic while driving. I pushed my car to 140 and there is no way you can concentrate taking a pic of your dash. Im sure its on a dyno.

It's a little too perfect to be taken in the real world. It's perfectly framed, and not blurry...

the Speedo is off by a few MPH.. It looks like its up around 159 (a hair shy of 160 in that pic) Insanity I tell you.. but most cars speedos are not dead on.. so at that speed its probably a few MPH off..

I have the Ralliart 300km/h / 10,000rpm instruments on my VII and I got it up to 280km/h = 175mph on a cold night and a VERY long straight stretch. I had around 7,500rpms but no rev limiter so far.

This was without any serious mods, 2,75" downpipe and test pipe 3" HKS Hiper cat back exhaust. HKS super powerflow filter, Sytec fuel pump, that's about it when it comes to power mods.

As MalibuJack pointed out more or less all speedos are of to the possitive side and that increases with speed but I did see a real top speed test with a laser gun and a totally stock VII in Germany and it did 257km/h = 160mph. So maybe I wasn't that far from 175

hey just be happy you can hit 140, lol here in a regular lancer i think you cant go above 130, but without some good mods on suspension dont bother, shaky as hell.

good luck with getting to 150 and be carefull

What if he stuck the camera to his steering column thing and framed it all before he went diving? Then all he has to do is push the button, all though even this might not be an easy task at 160mph if he is also watching the road.

I'm not saying this is what he did, just something to consider.
