low oil level make check engine light turn on????

Like the title says. Will low oil level make the check engine light turn on?? I know this is a noob question but mines just turned on and no idea why. Im going to take it to get it check later today. But just want to get some opinions. Everything runs fine on my car too.

Not sure if the Evo has it's own oil light or if it uses the SES for that. You can hit up any part store and they could scan the car and see what codes come up. Usually free.

I could be wrong but I thought they had their own oil warning light but I'm not totally sure.

Evos have a separate indicator for oil and CEL. I get the oil light to flicker now and then, and the CEL doesn't come on with it at all. Maybe just a coincidence that it came on with yours.

Check out your oil pressure though. If you have a gauge and it reads fine, it may just be that the switch has gone bad. A lot of people have had switches go bad that its almost a common issue. But having a pressure gauge would be ideal.

Probably need to take the car in to be tuned, o2 sensor replaced, boost lowered and/or stop using 87. lol

I think it's safe to say that it's not because of low oil.

Yeah it's a separate light for oil. I think it's just a simple pressure sensor. If it flickers then the sensor could be the issue or it's just low in oil. If it's solidly lit then usually it's too late to save the bearings.

The check engine light will not illuminate for a low oil condition.

my car is tuned. got it tuned at drift office by bill. hahah i would never use 87 in my car. not even when i had my integra. but ill keep everyone updated on the issue here.

the weird thing is my cel turned off when i was driving and hasent came back on yet. so maybe my o2 sensor is going bad?

That or about 50 other possible codes. BTW, the low oil code comes up on the dip stick.

Had the code checked. It has something to do with the o2. And about the low oil. I checked the dip stick and its under the first notch. Im planning on getting an oil change sometime this week.

ok so i went to go get it checked at drift office they told me it could be a dirty maf sensor. when they checked the code the o2 sensor passed. what gets me is that when the cel was on it said something about the o2. now it says it passes. idk the cel isnt on anymore. any thoughts to this?

The test for the rear 02 is a monitor that takes steady speed driving for a few miles to complete. So, it could be that when the test was done again it passed.
