The Tomei 2.3 4g63 is $4,190. I'd still rather have an AMS 2.3.

That is the price for just the rotating assembly. That doesn't include a block or machine work or assembly or anything else for that matter. The AMS is a complete short block using a NEW core. Ithat also has much better parts. Thathe AMS drop in motor uses a new head core as well. That you can than sell your current engine for a good amount and recoup some money. The 2.3RR is also not a standard drop in setup. It would be more comparable to a Buschur 2.3rpm lightweight motor. Any way you slice it your going to pay a but of money for a fully built long block.

The AMS motor also comes with a waterpump oil pump balance shady eliminator and cams. Aoilfield it isn't just a motor. With no core a Buschur 2.3rpm is over 6k with no accessories. The AMS 2.3 standard Stroker is 9k with no core. Edited to fix errors caused by Auto complete on phone.

Someone with the money in their right mind would spend the money and go AMS, Buschur or MAP imo. I'd never consider Tomei, $4,190 for just a rotating assembly makes me LOL. I wouldn't spend more money on a motor that has a power limit like that, if I'm spending that much cheddar I want it to be able to hold whatever power I can throw at it with my peace of mind.

I would agree. I would buy the best motor I could afford. Since I am poor I have to make due with a motor I am cobbling together from several blown up motors. Mine will be pretty badass when done though.

Just give me a high reving 2.0 with a fully built head and 10,500 rpm and call it a day.

All setups have there goods and bad. An EVO gets hard to shift that high rpm unless you go dogbox. The noise of a dogbox drives me crazy. If I was Rich I would have a race car with a 2.0 dogbox and 6766 plus a street car 2.4LR with a tall final drive and a 6466.

If you look at my build thread I am going to end with a 2.4 with Wiseco 1400HD pistons and Crower billet rods plus a baffled oil pan and l19 head studs. I have a fresh block and Crank and oil pump. I will be reusing everything from the new shortblock minus rods and pistons. I am even reusing the original bearing set. Ithe looks brand new. Why mess with success? The Crank is mint. Oil pump looks new. Skipping the oil cooler because current rod and mains didn't look great.

^ x2. I love Tomei and their products look/ perform fantastic but... Results matter more than anything. Buschur sells long blocks at reasonable prices and all of them have been proven again and again.. Practically all the motors he builds rev past 10k + rpm. That 2.3RR is pretty hard to beat for the price. I want one
