ceramic wheel bearing whp gain?

Can't find any dyno automotive 4 wheel examples. I would be happy with even a 5% gain.

Ceramic is HARDER than steel. If you don't know about the material's properties, I suggest you look it up.

They are pricey. Im curious as well to get feedback from someone who has actually run these.

Curt Brown used to run (may still) and sells them. He always ran crazy fast times and made great power.

Your comment towards ignorance infact makes you look even more ignorant
... so is glass, but harness and strength are two very different properties my man, way to call him out

I said they are harder, which they are. I also said do some research because it's obvious that he doesn't know much about material properties. Wonder why I didn't say stronger? I didn't want to type an essay for some nobody on the internet. He used the internet to make a post, which was a waste of time instead of just using google.

Looks like you are the ignorant one who just jumped the gun just to look like an asshat. Now go away before I stomp you like a spark-plugless moped.

ceramic has better wear properties and corrosion resistance and can take more heat

Lets not forget Steel cant be to Hardend, At a point it becomes brittle as toffee.

http://www.bocabearings.com/dropin.a...ison-Chart.txt

This goes over the ceramic types, The Silicon Nitride looks to be the best in terms of strenth over heat over Elasticisty, [Si3N4]
One thing that would slow you down as you go, is The Thermal Expansion of the bearing And heat its self, I dont see this even being a issue with ceramic bearings unlike steel.
Also the Coefficient of friction with Steel Vs Ceramic, Ceramic is far superior.
Imo Ceramic Bearing will Yeild, More consistant times and Last a lot longer.
Because ceramic is a glass like surface it has an extremely low coefficient of friction and is ideal for applications seeking to reduce friction, and Acheive Higher RPMS.

So to answer your question, yes you will go faster AND be more consistant in lap times.

Silicon nitride
Zirconium dioxide
Alumina Ceramic [Ai2O3] Alunimum Oxide
Silicon Carbide ceramic
And ball bearing steel

FWIW, ceramic bearings are used pretty regularly in the bicycle industry. They're generally marketed as lower drag. I'll go as far to say, that the drag on a bicycle using traditional steel bearings is so low, that switching to ceramics yields no real gain on a power meter (think like a live dyno but for a bike), and they're significantly higher maintenance.

IIRC, the super low friction ones for bicycles aren't packed with grease and don't have seals, so they require frequent lubrication.

It depends on which area of the bike, and how nice they are. So yes and no. Bikes aren't cars, so the heating benefits may yield gains... but realistically speaking, I think the gains would be minimal in terms of times.

Again though... not my area of expertise.
