16k is nothing lol if it has low miles you should see offers of at least 17.5.

just wait for the right time and offer, if not keep her

Personally, I think the VIII/IX is a far superior car than the X. The X is more refined and smoother, yet heavier and build quality is cheaper.

The VIII/IX is just that much more RAW than a X. I personally have no attachment to my X...compared to my VIII which I enjoy the same way as when i first bought it.....8 years later.

VIII/IX > X

If you are daily driving the X is more comfortable and safer in a crash.
I just like the more connected-to-the-road feel of the CT9A. Then again it's more of my weekend car now.

you definitely made the right decision in keeping your VIII dude. I recently picked up a Evo IX SE a few months ago from a one owner (40 year old gentleman) with only 40,000 miles on it. Honestly I couldn't be happier. Before I picked up the IX I was looking at X's. I had driven VIII's and IX's in the past but never had the opportunity to drive a X. I ended up finding a bone stock WW 2010 Evo X GSR with 31,000 miles also adult owned for sale. I'll admit it was a very clean, well taken care of car. But after test driving it I wasn't all that impressed as I thought as I was gonna be. It just didn't give me the big smile on my face as the VIII's and IX's did in the past. Don't get me wrong I love the Evo X. Its a amazing car and I would love to own one someday, but not at the expense of my Evo IX SE. Plus you sound like you have a connection with your VIII. You don't wanna lose that. And what if you sold it and your buddy didn't take as good a care of it as you did. Idk about you but that would irritate me until no end hahahahaha. Glad you kept your VIII man. Best of luck to you and building it.

VIII/IX > X
That's one of the most absurd statements I've ever heard. So you're telling me Mitsubishi spent millions of $ to re-engineer the entire car, and it worse than before? Give me a break.

Just look at all the enhancements in handling from the VIII to the X. It is better built with better interior. Ride quality is better. Quieter. Mod for mod power is better. The VIII is old technology.

The only downside to the X is weight. But that's because of some of the enhancements in handling as well. Can't always have the best of both worlds.

Don't get me wrong, the VIII and IX are still great cars. I owned one and loved it. I even understand if you choose to keep the VIII over the X. You had mods into it. It's setup for what you need - track car. Etc. I get it.

I also enjoy the folks who said they drove the X and it doesn't compare to their VIII. Yea, probably because the X is stock and the VIII was modded. Lol. No kidding it doesn't feel fast. I do agree the stock tune on the X's is lacking, but that's quickly made up for with a few mods and tune. But like I said mod for mod the X will make more power. It's an engine with new technology and is more efficient.

Regardless, it's just silly to say the X is an inferior platform to the older technology.
Take a look at all the records Ryan Gates has set in his X. Now you tell me which platform is better?

Car manufacturers spend millions to produce inferior products all the time.

Manufacturers also tailor products to the gadget-loving, luxury-craving masses, and also to wives. I do not necessarily share their taste. Personally, I think USDM evos are overloaded and could stand to go on a diet.

I test drove a X and after doing so went and test drove a VIII. I liked the raw feeling I got from the older model. Thats why I went out and bought an VIII over the X. But it's all personal preference to be honest.

Id pick/prefer a White IX MR over any evo ever made. Such a smooth trans and so sick color combo. Put a JDM rear and JDM 7's on her and that's my dream evo.

That depends on what you consider to be inferior. Your definition may be much different than mine, and in this case it is in regards to the Evo XVIII/IX and the X. The VIII and IX had one objective: to go fast and handle well on a consistent basis on many different surfaces. It was bold, aggressive, and simple. A true drivers, enthusiast's, and purist's car. Now before I move on I just wanna say I do love the Evo X and like I mentioned before I wouldn't mind owning one, but it lost its attitude with the MR. It went soft. Its a daily driver now. If anything it matured over time. It doesn't wanna just go fast and rip corners anymore. It'll give you the comfortable daily drive, the heated seats, the luxury of an automatic gearbox if your too lazy to flip a paddle to change gear. The point i'm making is those are all options that were never related to Evo's 1 - 9, only the 10. The GSR is better, but still soft compared to the IX with the options like navigation, the sound package, etc. What the Evo X really needed was a RS model like the VIII and IX had: a stripped out, all business kind of car. I'm sure that would've made a lot of hardcore Evo VIII and IX owners, including myself, a lot happier. And its funny you bring up Ryan cause I was just talking to him the other day. Take a wild guess at what his favorite Evo model was?! I'll give you a clue, it isn't the X. Its the Evo IX SE. Ryan's cars are impressive as are his records and lap times, but you should really do some Time Attack research and take a look at Sierra Sierra's Evo 8, Evasive Motorsports Evo 9, or the Cyber Evo for the matter and take a look at all the records those cars have set with the CT9A chassis. They're a lot faster than any Evo X out there. Anyways congrats to the OP for keeping his VIII

Ct9a's hold record after record and you claim the X is far better. It's been out 5 years and still people swear by the older generations.

I drove a stock X, it definitely seemed, at the time, to be a great around-town, DD type car. I had not driven my IX at that point. Yes, my IX had boltons when I got it, but the throttle response, turn-in, those qualities that are so subtle, all seemed sharper on the IX than the X.

Sadly, the X had one issue I just couldn't get past - I could not stuff a dead hooker in the trunk. I don't even think I could stuff a dead midget hooker in the trunk. I can get two in my IX and...

Crap, I've said too much already.
