Partly because they switched up the engine and partly because of the comfort items added to it. I also don't like SAWC/AYC and other electronic driver aids. I could always run faster auto-x times in my Talon without ABS and my buddy's WRX with the ABS disabled.
Well said!

I was just trying to let the OP know what the X had to offer. It had many more improvements over my old VIII which to me were significant. He posted in the Evo I-IX forum so I figured not many X owners would chime in. If we wants both sides, he should probably talk to more X owners.

Though I will disagree that the ABS in the Talon and the SAWC/AYC in the X is way different than the X. It's a whole different ballgame that has nothing to do with ABS. I turn off ABS as well.

He wasn't comparing the ABS of the talon to the AYC and SWAC of the Evo X, he was stating that he gets better lap times in cars that don't have any electronic aids. I would agree as well, as would many professional race teams. ABS, AYC, and the ACD make up what's referred to as SWAC. the stock programming for that gets thrown out the window when building a race car. ABS is gone and the properties of the ACD and AYC are changed drastically using something like a MoTeC center diff controller. this way the driver can set the car up to his liking

Once again I'm not bashing the Evo X. It's a very good car and I would love to own one someday, as a matter of fact thats my plan once my IX is paid off it's better than 90% of other cars on the road. in the end it's what you like. for me the Evo 1 - 9 is a race car for the street. It's priorities are race first, and street second. it has racing pedigree, multiple championships, thousands of lap records, and one badass 4G63 motor. to me the Evo X is a daily drivers car, and a very good one at that. but it's priorities have flipped being its main priority is the street. I know it has done some racing, but nothing in comparison to the 1 - 9.

once again it's what you like. OP likes his VIII, you like your X, and I like my IX. It's all personal choice and opinion. At least we all get to say we drive Evo's hands down the best ALL AROUND car that has ever been developed. No wonder the series has been around and dominating for 21 years.

This makes me smile. I knew this was coming and was waiting for it.

You keep it RAW, I'll keep going FASTER.

To the OP - if you want the opinion of both sides, you should also post in the forum above - "Evolution X". You just might get some different opinions in there.

And to everyone else...don't be scared of change. Embrace it!

Only thing I'll admit about the X is I like the front end. But for the extra 300 plus pounds and almost a .7 second slower 1/4, it is far from my favorite. My only point in this was just because it's newer, doesn't mean it's better. I'll agree the X is more comfortable and has some cool features. I myself didn't want or need SAWC, AYC, or SST to go fast. You aren't fooling anyone by trying to state the X is faster than the 8 or 9, we know it's not. Don't forget this is an EVO forum, no smoke and mirrors here. If I had the extra money to get a X from a DD or a long trip perspective, yes I would own one. But until then I'll drive my 8 everywhere I go, cruise or not. Thanks for acting civil and actually putting up valid arguments. My hats off to you sir, afterall we are "brothers"

Couldn't have said it better myself. Exactly how I feel about the X too. I wouldn't trade my 8 for it, but I would like to own one someday.

I use to own a stock evo IX MR and drove a stock evo X GSR and a stock evo X MR. The evo X GSR drove just like my old evo IX MR but if I had the choice, I will still pick the evo IX MR. There is a specific thread for this so no more trolling on which is better.

Just look at all the enhancements in handling from the VIII to the X. It is better built with better interior. Ride quality is better. Quieter. Mod for mod power is better. The VIII is old technology.

The only downside to the X is weight. But that's because of some of the enhancements in handling as well. Can't always have the best of both worlds.

Don't get me wrong, the VIII and IX are still great cars. I owned one and loved it. I even understand if you choose to keep the VIII over the X. You had mods into it. It's setup for what you need - track car. Etc. I get it.

I also enjoy the folks who said they drove the X and it doesn't compare to their VIII. Yea, probably because the X is stock and the VIII was modded. Lol. No kidding it doesn't feel fast. I do agree the stock tune on the X's is lacking, but that's quickly made up for with a few mods and tune. But like I said mod for mod the X will make more power. It's an engine with new technology and is more efficient.

Regardless, it's just silly to say the X is an inferior platform to the older technology.
Take a look at all the records Ryan Gates has set in his X. Now you tell me which platform is better?

There will never be an Evo like the 8-9. I would never opt for a X over the cast iron block of the older genre.

For comfort and worry free reliability the CBR1000RR gives me the speed and adrenaline, I'd kinda like to have a luxury car for once. I'm at 6 years with my Evo, a switch up right now sounds good for once. It's finally gonna be together and running in the next few days, I've been looking at it apart for about 6 months now, if it were a BMW it would have never been apart to begin with.

I'm sooo jealous, I want a CBR1000RR so bad! The only BMW's I would get is the E30 M3 (if you could find one), maybe a E36 M3, definitely a E46 M3, or the 1M coupe (also good luck finding one)

Well my friends I sold my Evolution VIII to my friend and I will be picking up my new Blue Evo VIII in a couple of weeks. I will have to break in my fully built balanced and blueprinted AMS 2.3 motor that's in it with zero miles. Car has all new internals and new race head as well as HKS 272 cams. Just waiting for the finishing touches on her as well as a AMS race fuel rail and new intercooler. Can't wait.
