Exhaust Help

I was looking into doing a Buschur racing down pipe and test pipe to go along with my Cobb cat back exhaust. Called Buschur today and found out that they would have to weld a flange on their test pipe to get it to fit the Cobb cat back and that it might not have the greatest fitment. So my question to you is what other exhaust options are out there that would have a deep aggressive sound for a down pipe and test pipe that would fit my cobb catback exhaust, or is my best bet just to have buschur weld on a flange and hope for the best. Thanks for the help ahead of time, Lonnie.

I'm guessing the reason they're saying there'd be fitment issues is because the car isn't going to be at their shop, and welding is as much a fabrication thing, as it is an art.

Otherwise, I'm not sure why there'd be fitment issues?

You could have them send you the exhaust with no flange welded on, and then just take it to your local muffler shop, and have them tack it up for you so that it fits... it'll probably cost a bit more, because they may have to move stuff around, but it'll fit properly.

I think the fitment issue comes in that their test pipe is made with some bracket I think he said slip stream, that is supposed to fit into buschur cat back systems, so it isn't intended to be used with an outside system. So right now I am thinking do buschur's down pipe and find a test pipe by somebody else, a Perrin down pipe with another test pipe, or just find another down pipe and test pipe. If anybody can point me in a good direction that would be lovely!

a downpipe is a downpipe. Buy one with the correct connector (2-bolt, 3-bolt, slip-fit, etc) and call it a day

So it's safe to assume that a down pipe and test pipe just direct air. The cat back is essentially what gives an exhaust it's tone?

I have Buschurs entire exhaust system. Mine was on when I bought the car, and it has no flanges. It's connected with those silly wrap around 2 bolt compression clamps.

They're great (if they're installed correctly), but as was said... metal is metal. Any welder worth his salt can get it sorted.

Yeah I'm running a stock cat. I think I'm going to go with MAP test pipe being that it's semi affordable and I've heard map is good quality, and I think I'm going to go with a Perrin down pipe. Have a map o2 housing on its way while they are I clearance too; nothing like saving some money for other parts!

a test pipe and a resonated test pipe will change the "deepness" a little

the muffler will be what determines tone the most

a 3" downpipe isn't going to sound different than another 3" downpipe unless they're made of different material
