DaimlerChrysler doing a little house cleaning at MITSU

You guys are missing the flip side: Keep in mind that a few years back, Nissan had the same troubles. They brought in Carlos Ghosn from their parent company, Renault, to "clean house". Ghosn was (is) renowned as a ruthless cost-cutter, so things did not bode well for Nissan. We all know how well Nissan is doing now. Some cars that arrived during Ghosn's reign: 350Z, G35, Xterra, new Maxima, new Altima, Titan truck, M45, FX45, etc. If this happens after Mitsu's "house cleaning", we'll have reason to celebrate. Think of this scenario: Gerhard (or whoever) decides that he wants German build quality and know-how to combine with Japanese build quality and know-how. Imagine - a well-specced, over-engineered Evo with immaculate build quality. I'll take one...

in what way is that off your point? Are you saying there there IS no downside to your example? Its business, it is very possible. The saving grace of DC is the recent musclecar motors that have been popping up in the MB lineup. Even in that case, DC BF'ed themselves with the sl600 and subsequent AMG sl65. A car for roughly a third of the price with the same, if not MORE performance of the SLR? I am not trying to flame, change is good, as they say, but they also say if it ain't broke....

I think the EVO will be just like the supra.... a will be in very limited numbers in the years to come. Just look at how many 2003's are still sitting on the lots.
As for me Im keeping mine and will for quite some time. Maybee In the future Ill be able to import a JDM version. and have two EVos.
Wouldnt that be nice.

i agree, if mitsubishi dealers weren't so crappy in the customer service dept they'd have more returning customers and loyalty..
but sucks for them...no one's doing anything about it up there so yeah...it'd be good for them to go out of business ...there's a reason why honda and toyota are the best selling imports...know what i mean?

If the new guy O Neil doesn't make it a success I could see Mitsu ending as a US car company and instead get folded into Dodge/Chrysler. That might actually be better for us because the existing second tier Mitsu dealerships are so lame.
I feel that people are over reacting here,
The evo, even if its showing tough times, will most likley not be removed from the U.S, and if, for some reason it is, it would FOR SURE not be removed from the line-up, thats like suicide for the
passenger car market, the evolution is there heart.
I don't see a big problem in this at all, and not worried at the least.
