My all-time best mpg is 29.3. For a 13 gallon tank that's 380 miles on a tank.

Regardless of what people will tell you 200 miles per tank indicates a problem on a stockish car, even more so if you are granny shifting it the whole tank. You should be seeing 260-270 no problem unless you are doing alot of stop and go traffic. Check the 02 sensor, mine took my mileage from 19 or so back to 24 mpg combined.

Is that running idle for the entire tank?

Yes, but if "better breathing" = more air, don't you need more fuel to keep correct AFRs?

I gotta have a problem then. I granny'd the car on a 100 mile trip (filling up before/after to get my highway MPG) and still didn't get over 20, or barely over if at all. It was that point that I started to stop tracking my MPGs. For stress levels.

is that with mods, or stock?
I dont know if pumping 91 would make a difference in mpg vs. pumping 93.
You must tell me your secret because my car is completely stock and i'm getting a little over 240 miles per tank

Idling = 0mpg since you aren't traveling any distance but are still using gas.

That was with the mod list in my sig except I was still on stock turbo and had stock ignition. That tank was all highway (on the way to a trackday IIRC). I think I followed a truck for a while which may have allowed me to do a bit of slipstreaming.

Mind you that was my best ever tank, my average for all-highway driving is around 26-27.

Iv'e had this problem too. I was actually getting 140-180 on a tank!!! I thought I had a gas leak. But after replacing my injectors and few other things I was getting almost double that!Ive actually drove from Chicago to my place which is roughly 220 miles. And I done that in just under a half a tank! My car is not stock but you should be getting a lot better then that.

Take the car in for a tune with a reputable tuner in your area. Thinking you just have either a bad tune or its never been tuned, or was never retuned when swapped back to stock from previous owner.. Safe conclusion is indeed you arent getting the mileage you should be. I get 20-22 mixed driving and usually 25 or more on the hwy at 75-80.

The op most likely has a mechanical issue as well as some who are stock, plus a good tune will help. A lot of things go into how good your mpg is. For me the keys to decent mileage are some of the mods in my sig, as well as keeping out of boost. My daily commute is 50/50 highway city with some spirited in between to navigate traffic, and I average between 295-315 a tank with 12.5 gallons being the most I put in. I generally go to the gas light +25 miles.

I get around 200 miles per tank also. It gets terrible mileage and the tank is tiny.

A good tune + staying out of boost + decent bolt on supporting mods + consistent preventative maintenance (belts, hoses, injectors, plugs, tires etc.) + all highway driving i.e.(california to maryland or Germany to Belgium for the overseas guys) = 300+ Miles to the tank FTW!

  1. Tune
  2. Tire Pressure 35-38 psi
  3. Drive safely

That should get you close to 300 miles per tank on 91/93 octane with basic bolt ons.

I go WOT on ramps and passing on the highway about 4-8 times a day (all within the speed limit) and I get 240 miles on E85 and 295 miles on 91 octane.

I'll have to ask some my customers what mpg their getting and I'll report back.

I'm 100% stock and filled up yesterday. The low fuel light came on on my way home so I stopped at shell. I was at 220 miles on the odo. Doesn't sound like your far off. Do some routine maintenance and see where that gets you.

I get around 230-240 with LA traffic and mix city and highway driving.

I thought it was pretty good until I saw some of you guys getting close to 300.

At least my Evo is better than my previous car.. 11-12mpg babying it!
