I don't know about when you mix but the only time I have been able to do it is when I am doing a long drive across states or countries where it's no s#!t ALL HIGHWAY. No stop lights, toll booths, or anything else that I would have to stop and start for.

That should get you close to 300 miles per tank on 91/93 octane with basic bolt ons.

I go WOT on ramps and passing on the highway about 4-8 times a day (all within the speed limit) and I get 240 miles on E85 and 295 miles on 91 octane.

I'll have to ask some my customers what mpg their getting and I'll report back.
This. I run 38psi cold on my tires for street driving. Tuning also goes a way towards improving mileage, and of course the big one is how you drive.

I am not sure that I understand the question... so to this I will say do your maintenance on time with your manual. As far as supporting mods go DO ALL THE BOLT ONS THAT WILL HELP YOU EVO BREATHE BETTER. FMIC w/ upper and lower pipes, ported TB, EM and IM; turbo back exhaust with high flow cat or test pipe if your state allows, a walboro fuel pump upgrade and tune to boot.

Porting and IC pipres won't do that much for fuel economy IMO. The biggies are more exhaust and intake.

I still don't get the breathing mods helping MPG. Would letting more air go through mean more fuel to keep the correct AFRs?

it could be less air in your tires or you drove with the ac on or your hubs could be going bad causing drag

Hmmm... good point and I am no scientist or automotive engineer but I've got em all to include a 4" Buschur FMIC, CNC Ported Head w/ 1mm oversized valves
Kelford 272 w/ Fidanza Cam Gears; Full Supertech Dual Springs & TI Retainers, Eagle Rods, AMS Ross Pistons (2006 version @ 9:1 compression ratio) w/ ACL Racing Bearings ........... and I manage to pull off 300+ just fine as long as I behave and have plenty of open road. IDK maybe my tuner is a magician

I agree with most of what everyone else said.

I would recommend a tune for sure. My buddy had a 03 Evo and from the factory the thing was crazy rich. After a drive-ability tune his mileage increased by 50-70 per tank.

Best of luck man!

Michael
