^that...and also does it help that much in the snow over the non-ACD cars?

I would think that not having ACD would force u to become a better driver.

Not really a true statement. Evo's being all wheel drive is brilliant at covering up driver flaws. Not trying to be condescending... but if you have ever been on a road course in your EVO and then taken that same course in a FWD car or a RWD car you'd be amazed on just how much the Evo compensates for lack of driver experience. True Story!

not condescending at all, I totally get what you're saying. I just see the ACD as another not-really-needed driver's aid. I want an 03 becuase they are more 'raw', as ppl here have put it.

More raw indeed, but I still feel that if you own an Evo have made the decision to track it, you owe it to yourself as an enthusiast to begin tracking in something more (FWD or RWD)basic then once move up to tracking in your Evo you truly appreciate the Night and Day difference.

i have an 03, wanted the front lsd so i put one in. dont have to deal with the acd unit and other headaches of it. i like to drive the car, the less computers the more i feel like i drove it. yes i use to own a fwd and raced it so i know and appreciate the awd. but i have to say there isnt a night and day difference between them if the other car was set up properly.

i also find that it really depends on the person u are asking and what they intend to use the car for.

04 here. The only thing I want to get for my car that I dont have is the frt diff and thats next and it will be complete. The diff conversion for the rear will make noise, use Diaqueen and it will be much, much quieter with little to no popping. Mine only pops when the fluid if hot after its been driven a while and only on tight corners and you can feel it engage under same hot fluid conditions.

I specifically looked for an 03-04. Not a fan of the ACD, I've seen too many of my friends have problems. As for the turbo, I plan on swapping that to something larger anyways. Even with the open front diff, the car is a monster in the snow. I now have an RS front diff. Cams can be changed as well. These are just my opinions.

Love my 03. With cams and e85 who needs the mivec. I am doing the rear diff mod this month and will look at getting the front LSD.

Rear diff mod? How are the rear diffs different between 03-04 and 05-06?

But it is a major point that maybe I wouldn't be if anything goes wrong with them....But hey that's why I want the evo over a STi, IF I wanted the experience of AWD performance car without the ACD/ AYC I would just buy a STi here in Australia, Much cheaper.
