Please help a noob with pricing?
You guys are funny, I bought my evo 2003 feb 2012 with 13k on it, original owner garage queen basically. There are no oil leaks, bad gaskets etc. now the car just hit 19k and still flawless.
To OP I wouldn't be concerned with stuff like that, look at your car u just sold an 07 with low mileage did u occur any issues with bad gaskets etc? As far as pricing goes I feel the price is fair take a look in the market place, not too many low mileage cars.
Good luck and enjoy your search.

It is always a risk with low mileage cars. Im only speaking from experience since I see this every day at work. Im a tech for Mercedes so on a daily basis I see the low mileage vehicles come in and witness all the leaks. There are some that are leak free, but that's not the norm. Hell I had a 1990 SEL with 14k miles with no leaks, no rust, very well maintained.
I think the key is to how it was stored and maintained. If they started the car often and let things warm up vs just having a battery charger on it for most of its life, then ya I can see why yours doesn't leak. That can be another question to ask the seller, is how was it maintained while it was stored. If he said something like the car was started and driven a few blocks so often, then cool, you probably shouldn't have any leaks. One issue is that, from my experience, folks just let them sit in the garage.
Again, Im speaking from my own experience. I see this everyday. I also do roadside and I get plenty of calls because of issues Mercedes owners have with their stored cars. I always have to tell them they need to get driven.
Well here's the latest update. I told him I wasn't crazy about the asking price since IMO it was going to need "paintwork" and that I would want a PPI before shaking on any deal.
He came back with taking 1k off the asking price and agreeing to a PPI.
So his current offer is $24,000.
Am I being stupid by really wanting to pay $23?
I just feel ignorant when it comes to the Evo world. I could tell you anything you want to know about an Wrx/Sti but this is all new to me about pricing and common issues.

Here people would try and sell it for like 29k? In this case I agree some leaks might occur from age but the cars value would probably surpass how much you will have to put into the car to get it in prime condition lets say you have to put 2k into the car to get it into prime condition. Boom, you just bought a perfect evo ix for 26k which I think is fair.
--->also if your modding or going ham in your evo youre going to want to replace that stock clutch asap which prices can vary but id suggest a good quality heavy duty one so you dont have to worry every time you f up.

24k is better than 25k. I've seen plenty of low mileage evo IX's go for way more than that. Hell I've seen a kid try to get close to 30k for his "slightly modded" Evo IX with above 70k miles on it. I'd go for it (but I'm not a fan of low mileage cars :P), but keep a watch on the underside of the car once and a while.
Where I come from 24k is a steal for a IX (i think that is below the kbb price)

It is all about how you drive but if you plan to have fun in your evo regularly (highly recommended) then I would get it replaced. If your modding at all definitely get it replaced higher horsepower is just going to eat your stock clutch up.
^having said that I would keep the stock clutch til it goes out if you have another ride that you can use while it is in the shop. Just because why not?
I wont lie I have always had an aftermarket clutch on mine so experience wise I cant actually say. But as long as I have been on this forum all I ever hear about is peoples stock clutches going out. But there was on guy on here who has like 200k + miles on his evo and if I recall he still has a stock clutch on his BUT im pretty sure he admitted to babying it and driving like a grandma for the most part.

I told myself I would never own another AWD garage queen lol.
P.S. ballpark price on a clutch install. The tranny is one thing I refuse to do myself.
Haha, I figured as much
Car is located in queens. He's being a little skiddish about not want to drive it too far because "what if I get in an accident?"
So my initial thought was tach motor works is 19 miles away...any better suggestions under 20 miles from queens? (It's his completely arbitrary cutoff for the distance he's willing to travel one way)
