Seller states the car receives all maintenance from his local Mitsubishi dealership and he has the oil changed every 3 months has he never its the mileage intervals with how little he drives it. States it has never seen rain or snow as he DD's an Infiniti.
Why are we the dark side?
We have a traditional inline piston engine, not twin motorcycle engines......

I find that people who "won't accept certified bank checks" are people who don't understand that they are essentially the same thing as cash. Dude doesn't sound particularly bright.

Why don't you just meet him at a branch of your bank in his area? Then you can withdraw funds there if he's really set on walking away with a briefcase of $100s.

Not to mention the owner's concern with driving any distance suggests that he does not have collision insurance.

I find that really sketchy that he won't take a certified bank check and/or drive a reasonable distance to meet you. Yes, I get the whole "I don't want to get in an accident" but you run that risk everyday when you get in a car. I know it seems a little "above and beyond" to go, but how do you know 100% that this car is even in his posession? Did he send you pictures with that evidence that he in fact owns this car? Wanting almost $24K in cash seems sketch to me.

Thank you for feeing the same way I do. It's certified funds, they don't even put a hold on it if its cashed during business hours. And I Don't have a branch near Queens

I wondered the same thing! Originally he would only drive 10 miles, I had to beg for the 19 mile trip to Tach. Seems overly concerned for a car that is not my definition of flawless.

No proof other than he had the keys and took me for a test drive. Although he would not let me drive it.....

I'll be damned if I was going to walk around with 23k in hundo's lol. Maybe I'm not a big enough baller

I've decided to walk away from the car. He's just being to sketchy for my liking. It really sucks as I've been looking for a low mileage 06 SE or MR thats not $35k since January and haven't found one yet. I'm about to just pick up another 06 STI and call it a day.

I would have to say it's a good choice you walked away. There are way to many things that scream "red flag" to me. I for one would never buy something unless I personally drove it. And considering that's a hefty chunk of change, if he was a good seller he would of let you drive it. Even if it was up and down the road. And the fact he didn't want to take a check is also really weird. Don't give up on your search. It ook me awhile to find my car and patience was worth it in my situation. They are out there, you just gotta look! Good luck!

Not to thread-jack, but a lady-friend of mine in Ukraine would buy apartments for cash. She owns several.

As in taking a taxi (she did not own a car or drive) with a suitcase with $250,000 in hundreds on her lap.

Yes, she was baller, but even she said those taxi rides made her nervous.
