Hey guys,
I'm looking at a local 2006 Evo MR. It's red and just turned 20,000 miles on the odometer. 1 owner and has NEVER been modded from a performance standpoint. Only thing changed was the head unit and speakers.
Seems really clean with the exception of a scratch on the rear bumper that's all the way through the paint and essentially a matching scratch on the front bumper. Both 3 inches long.
What do you guys think a fair price is all things considered? Keep in mind I'm **** and would be getting the paint fixed immediately

Too many factors for anyone to give you a fair number. Theres not even pics of the car and any mechanical condition is unknown to us.
A car that age with that low mileage is almost likely to be having some sort of oil leak from a dry rotted seal or gasket. Vehicle was always stored a lot so theres a chance it regularly saw old fuel running through the system.
I guess Im just venting as I see this everyday at work. On a daily basis I see REALLY low mileage older cars. They are all shiny and clean outside, but crawl underneath and you got leaks everywhere. Just hope this evo is the exception and not the norm.

Fair enough. God damn do I sound like a noob lol. Been in the Subaru game for 5yrs now and don't pretend to know the first thing about an Evo. Recently sold my 07 Sti with 14k on the odo and want to come over to the dark side.
Seller states the car receives all maintenance from his local Mitsubishi dealership and he has the oil changed every 3 months has he never its the mileage intervals with how little he drives it. States it has never seen rain or snow as he DD's an Infiniti.
I find that lower mileage vehicles that are hardly driven tend to have or develop leaks from the gaskets getting dry and sitting too long. I myself stay away from vehicles like that IMO (you could argue that they are better since it has more life left in it). I've never had a problem with a 60k-80k mileage car since they are usually driven daily and have old vapors and carbon build ups burnt off along with all the gaskets not being rotted. However this all depends on the owner taking care of it or not (receipts of history and whether or not they know anything about a vehicle) You should post a pic up of the car along with trying to get some undercarriage and engine pics.
I heard it was bad for a car to change oil before its due mileage date and I also second tommiM
I hate when people dont drive their evos enough it destroys a great car. Their meant to be ran. Not saying that its not got a good motor/tranny/etc just small things like leaks rubber hoses and other things that rot over time. It more than likely still has a good value though what is he asking?

The market is crazy for iX's up here in the NE.
$25k, whatever. No warranty, cars been sitting. I myself see that people are asking for $25k because they think they have a one of a kind car.
$20k is more like it. Tell you what, after the first 1,500 mile, let us know what starts leaking. I see it every day in the Ferrari world. Some guy buys a Ferrari that sat in a guys garage... Example, guy bought an F40 that sat for two years(started every weekend). New owner buys it, clutch slave cylinder started leaking. We fix it. Then he finds out he has lost compression(lack of power). We check it out and find all the valve faces and seats have pits due to the moisture having the valve stay open(car never got up to operating temp)

Not just evos but cars in general. I believe cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed, not sit in a room like a museum piece. Evos put a smile on your face when they sit nice and clean in your garage, but they really evoke emotions when your going wide open through a fast sweeper.
if its something like the rear main seal, that could be pricey if hes paying for labor, but of course not as expensive as a new tc.
Cars are just machines and were meant to be used. They weren't designed to sit around so things happen when they do. They wear so obviously if they get driven they start to wear. The trick is finding the lesser of the two evils and finding a car in the happy medium. my .02
You guys are funny, I bought my evo 2003 feb 2012 with 13k on it, original owner garage queen basically. There are no oil leaks, bad gaskets etc. now the car just hit 19k and still flawless.
To OP I wouldn't be concerned with stuff like that, look at your car u just sold an 07 with low mileage did u occur any issues with bad gaskets etc? As far as pricing goes I feel the price is fair take a look in the market place, not too many low mileage cars.
Good luck and enjoy your search.
