Evo problems

Took about a 2 hour drive the other day, and when I got home I noticed and extra loud ticking noise. Louder than normal.

Today I'm driving, and coming off a turn in like 3rd gear, my car starts supttering like crazy. Not sure what's going on. This is in low RPMs like 2nd-4th. Kinda worried.

I would start by doing a boost leak test, and a compression check. Since you mention a ticking... I would probably do that before driving it again.

Oh ****. I hope not. My buddy pulled coil packs from a motor he had laying out and it drastically reduced the ticking and no more Subaru sound

Sounds like a misfire. Check sparkplugs, plug wires, and make sure to double check the injector seals. If there is a leak there, it will make it sound like a subaru.

Yeah... misfire. Weird. I'd still check compression. Find out what caused the problem as well...

Yea, I was chasing a ticking noise forever on my evo 8, ended up actually being a rod knock that presented itself on the highway while coming home, ate up rod bearing on cylinder 2. Lucky nothing blew out of the block. It all started as a loss in power too...

Was going to say you need to check the condition of the plug-- with the electrode missing you likely have a detonation problem at the very least and could be a AF issue. GL in fixing it.

If it was lucky enough to be expelled through the exhaust, I'd check the exhaust side of the turbo just to be sure you don't have any FOD issues.

Also. That one plug was not tight at all. Im quite sure they were all tight when the head gasket was changed.

What is FOD?
