BG Syncro Shift 75w-80 Manual Transaxle Oil

I went to the dealership today to get some manual transaxle oil and they gave me this. It looks like a different weight than is recommended on the fluids post. Anyone know if this works as well?

I read the above link. I am going to have to disagree with the comment of BG Syncroshift I or II being detrimental to our trannys. I work for Honda, used to work for Mitsu, and in each case we sold BG fluids and additives at the dealership. My current BG rep assures me that BG fluids are fine to run in our cars. I run them in mine and have no issues whatsoever. He also guaranteed me coverage of replacing my transmission, ACD, and rear diff if anything were to happen to them now that BG fluids are in them. I have been running them for 10k now and not one hiccup. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth. I think they make a great product.

A sales rep guaranteeing coverage in case of a technical issue is one thing. Actually have them step up when things go bad is another thing entirely. Not saying they won't step up, but it's an easy thing for a sales guy to say.

I used BG Synchroshift 2 in my 6 speed and hated it. Car got real notchy and grumpy. I have been using Castol Syntorq LT since about 12,000 miles and now I have 164,000 miles on my car. It's far superior to the OEM Super DiaQueen in my estimation.

I have no experience with BG on a 5 speed, as I've never owned one.

And I am not sure if Jack's has any experience with the Castrol fluid, but I feel it's orders of magnitude better than the OEM Super DiaQueen. It was developed for Nova 4500 transmissions, which had a bad habit of genading when they got too hot. LT stands for "Low Temperature." It's also OEM fill for the Dodge Viper.

When I am done swapping my current tranny for the upgraded Shep 6 speed, I would be happy to send my transmission to Jacks (if they want to pay shipping) so they can see what 150+ thousand miles on that fluid looks like

Redline MT90 works well but notchie in the Winter until it warms up then shifts great. Never a problem in the Summer. I used BG previously and never had a problem. Some big name tuners have reccomended BG.

Read the link too.

I'll just say that my car has seen Pennzoil Syncromesh it's entire life 140k+. Never a trans related issue stock OEM 03 5spd

If it ever gives me an issue or goes I'll be interested to see what Jon @ TRE says about the internals. Until then Syncromesh it is, wouldn't use anything different if it was free at this point.

i previously ran amsoil and it made my 60k beat up gearbox feel better, but it got to the point of no return due to clutch wear. i had planned to continue to run amsoil but i put in a jacks stage 1 box and they recommend diaqueen so i went with that. my car is mainly DE/TT so we it certainly sees high stress.

i spoke with both shep and jacks before buying a box, and they both said amsoil was good but they just havent put the testing behind it to say yes or no.

i dont think any of the big name gearbox shops woud say to not run a fluid without a pretty solid reason to make that statement.

Ive tried this BG stuff before on my 5 speed. I only used it cause it was free at the time and it seemed to work fine on all the other cars I used it on. It was ok but my trans shifted much smoother when I decided to try the redline cocktail. I personally wouldn't go back to the BG even if it was free.
