Gauge cluster light just wen out

I was driving at night and my cluster light just went out. It went out very slowly. But when i turn off my headlights, it turns back on. Next morning checked the fuses, they were fine. Is it just the light? Thanks in advance for any input.

which light? There are 2 that light up the needles and dials. There is one that lights up the LCD display and like 15 that are individual indicators.

Everything went out. Gauges still operational just that there's no light behind it.

Then it's a power problem.. first have you made sure that the dimmer switch for your cluster is turned all the way to bright?

Your situation sounds similar to mine. I just started a thread because my cluster is doing the same thing. Did you check to see if you have any other lights out? My passenger rear & front corner light are also out.

OK... There are two fuses that control lighting to the cluster. One fuse is linked to the Left side lights, your windshield wipers, hazards and a whole bunch of other things. When your headlights are off, this powers the bulb behind the LCD screen, and your indicator lamps.

The other fuse goes to the right tail lamp and so on. This goes through your dimmer switch and is active when your headlamps are on..

So, for the OP of this thread.... check that your right side tail/headlamp parking indicators are working. If it is not, than you most likely have a blown fuse. If they are working, either your dimmer switch is turned down, or you have a problem with your dimmer circuit.

To lil rican.... You most likely have a blown fuse.

you want to check fuses one and two in the junction box in the driver's side kick pannel.

I highly advise you to check the fuse before you buy a multimeter (if buying the multi meter to check this problem) a dollar fuse is alot easier on the wallet, than an unneeded multi meter.
