Suppose a thief switches out your ECU with a stock one

Inspired by Smurfzilla's response in this thread here:

If a thief swaps out your ecu, are there any mods that will prevent the car from being able to start and/or gingerly driven away?

At first I wanted to say yes, but the more I think about it, a manual fuel kill switch may be the only thing.

manual kill switch is the only thing. if they roll up in a flat bed wrecker you're screwed.

ECU removal is worthless as thieves often carry their own ECU.
Don't use a fuel pump kill switch, use a momentary contact fuel pump switch for the fuel pump. It's much safer.

Not even a speed density tune or some ridiculously large injectors with crazy voltages that are really different from stock?

I would think both of those would cause a serious issue with a stock tuned ecu. Speed density would probably be the biggest hurdle to get passed as the car doesn't run without the maf.

The car will start with the maf unplugged so i don’t see why they couldn’t creep it down the block to their trailer.

A different map sensor will cause the car not to run on a stock ecu.

If you have a secondary vehicle you could park it behind the Evo. Stealing the car will be just a little bit harder for a thief since they will have to move it first.

It's all about layering your security.

I've read about Integra Type-Rs being stolen from garages while their owners slept.

Like the adage goes, if a thief really wants to steal your things they can. What you can do is make it such a pain in the *** that they don't want to.

unplug your injector resistor pack, but leave it hanging there. It is very hard to see, and will look like everything is good to go.

Take main relay with your when you park.

I am happy I don't live where you guys do, damn ***** are serious about stealing cars over there.

This is something I was gonna do, relocate my ecu. Extend wires and Put it somewhere hard to get to. Haven't came up with a place to put it yet.

they tried swapping out ecu's on my friends evo when he parked it at BART but ended up not being able to get away with it due to his evo running 1000cc injectors and it being on e85
