Replaced Wheel Stud, found this rattling around....
So I snapped a rear wheel stud a couple of days ago, and then I replaced it. The replacement was successful. I pulled the wheel of, undid and tied up the brake. Slide the rotor off, undid only one side of the hub, the 2 springs uptop and the spring/pin thing on the left so I had enough room to slide the new stud in and seat it.
I got everything back together then when the next day whenever I went over bumps I heard something rattling around. I pulled everything off again today and found this:

stuck between the rotor and the hub, anyone have any idea where it goes? I can't seem to figure it out or find a diagram.
I guess I could always pull the other side off and see where it goes...

I got it. I was looking at it for like 15 minutes before i remembered i took pictures with my phone before i took everything apart the first time. I just can't get it back together without another set of hands. Aligning everything with all the springs and that little pin with the locking spring is a PITA.
Also is the gold colored twisting mechanism for aligning everything properly?
This is where i put it: more or less

Sorry, was afk. That's exactly right, just on your car it was probably upside down from that picture.
The toothed wheel is for adjusting the drag to each brake. If it is too far in the parking brake won't hold; if it is too far out you will be riding the parking brake all the time. You should have just a little difficulty pulling the rotor off when set correct. If it hangs up bad, it is too tight. If there is no drag at all it is too loose.
You can fine tune the adjustment with the cable, so it doesn't have to be perfect at the wheel, just real close.
