Question for those with over 650whp.
Forgive this newb sounding question. What size exhaust are you guys running? I just ordered a built bottom end and a 6766 turbo kit and I'm wondering if I should buy a 3.5" exhaust to replace my 3" currently on the car. I've built several cars but nothing as high power as I am shooting for on this car, and I'm just curious what the power threshold is when a 3" starts to hold you back. Thanks.
well i know you dont want to hear anything from me cause i make a mere 405whp, but i run 2.5 and 2.5 is solid for like up to 500-550 hp so i assume your good for up to 7-8 without bottlenecking, remember back pressure is your friend
My car made 900 with a 3". Would a bigger exhaust have helped? Probably. If you're that into it you could dump out the hood or passenger side of the bumper.
As it was I was spark limited, not anything else.

Just because Buschur ran a 9 with a 3" exhaust does NOT mean it is all you need. Thats garbage. You can run a 9 with a massive ***** on the front of your car and say thats why you ran the 9, because the ***** cut thru the wind. Doesnt mean its the way to go though.
On the 6766 youre running it depends what the exhaust outlet size is of the hot side. If youre running a T3 .82, its a 2.5" outlet, so youd be ok with a 3" exhaust. If youre on a vband outlet, its a 3", so again a 3" exhaust is still ok because there is no step-down restriction. A T4 is 3-5/8in outlet. Here is where you would want a larger size exhaust. 3.5in is technically still small for 3-5/8ths by 1/8th of an inch. A turbo system is essentially one big restriction, but you want to minimize restriction.
The bigger the exhaust the better, but in most cases a 3" will do just fine.
